Hi captains, a few weeks ago i spent another hour in a 744 full flight sim
of Lufthansa Flight Training in Frankfurt.
For the first time in these simulators, i heard a female voice after touchdown
at rollout saying "900 remaining", 600 remaining" etc...for the remaining
runway range.
Is this a callout feature of the original 744 or is this just a simulator feature?

Timo

Drückst Du den Knüppel nach vorn, werden die Häuser größer, wenn Du den Knüppel ziehst, werden sie kleiner. Dies gilt nur, wenn Du den Knüppel nicht dauernd ziehst, dann werden die Häuser auch größer.

Hi Timo!

I searched a bit, and found the name of that system: it's called the RAAS (Runway Awareness and Advisory System). You can find some extra information from Honeywell:
http://www51.honeywell.com/aero/Products-Services/Avionics-Electronics/Egpws-Home3/raas4/raas_certifications.html?c=21
Their dedicated website http://www.honeywellrunwaysafety.com/ has quite interesting info:
- The "overview animation" (only the "air transport" animation has sounds... strangely) that can widely help figure how it appears, seen from the flight deck.
- The "callout overview" brochure gives all details on various RAAS modes. It could help if someones wants to program such equipment into a simulator.
Who knows... maybe PSx wil feature such equipment?

Thank you for the link, Pierre!
It would really be nice to have that feature in PSX...
