PSX CDU control from iPad (and maybe iPhone)

Felix, I'll see what I can pack up for you. I have it all because all photos were made explicitly for this purpose.

The fonts you need are tricky. There is NO FONT OUT THERE that matches anything close to a real CDU, especially not one that matches the original cathode ray tube vector plotting (which is the only real CDU  :-)  ). But a while ago, Martin and Hardy designed these from scratch using TTF and they are great. I recommend to use these.

However we need to properly document the heritage of all these materials. The photos were made by Jörg Löhnig and the fonts thus by Martin and Hardy. We need in some way to get these attributions into the app.

You can get a lot of stuff right now by fetching my MCDU from hoppie.nl/mcdu, installing it, and then looking in the img folder and the fonts folder of Windows. However I have still better stuff, which I need to collect. Especially the fonts are not complete in this one on the web and I have larger imagery.

Only one request, but it is a biggie: Android support!

Cheap 7" androids are about < $200. The cheapest Apple I see is a iPad mini for $319.

There are now windows based tablets on sale for $150, Windows runs on Atom.

Really? Lowest I have seen is $299 here for a Dell 8" with an Atom.

You can also use pluggable products --  usb 3.0 -> HDMI to expand the video outputs.

Reality has not caught up with hype, we'll see how long it takes to ship over the border to Toshiba Canada.

Nice to see Microsoft has dropped the license fee on units under 9 inches, that will be cause a whole new flood of models with crazy pricing!

Looking great!
Will the 'tap & hold' keypress be possible as well? Like when you want to clear the whole scratchpad at once with the CLR key.

This is something that doesn't work with virtual CDU app for Microsoft flight simulator.

Excellent work. I was waiting for this, too!  

(... having actually moved the MCDUs of other sims to the iPad running a virtual 2nd or 3rd windows monitor. A tablet is definitely suitable for this. I already wondered how to drag the PSX CDU to the 3rd monitor but there is no need anymore.   )
