Can't get TrafficPSX to work

Quote from: GarryTrafficPSX reads the traffic directly from FSX, regardless of how it is generated.
I know nothing about VisualPSX (so far), but as an Ultimate Traffic 2 user, I wonder:
Is UT2-generated traffic really seen inside FSX in just the same way as "native" traffic?
I am rather certain that a lot of UT2 is actually happening "externally" and then "fed into" FSX, but I'm not sure about how this is "perceived" by FSX, as it were.

In any case, the suggestion would be that people with problems should perhaps try FSX default traffic first, and only if/when that works, switch to traffic externally generated by UT2 or similar add-ons.
Or has this been tested already?

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Edwin,

Did you manage to find a solution to your issue? I have exactly the same... the traffic from FSX does not pass through PSX.

Thanks

dabok

I'm afraid not. Tried every suggestion from this thread, with no luck

Have de-installed UT2 but no success with default traffic either after this.
Can see traffic within FSCommander but not in PSX.
Lets ask the other way around: is there anybody with UT2 working?

Thanks
Gerd

Same for me. With or without UT2, I don't have any traffic on PSX's TCAS display   :(

Moi,

I think we need to wait until Garry has returned from his current travels and can look into this.

Please be patient.  ;)

Martin

No problem at all. We are glad that we have him.
Just providing informations in the meantime which
can possibly help him.

Any ideas very much appreciated.

I can add only this:

As you know, you need to check "Externally controlled" on Situation > Human > Traffic. Note that this checkbox is a situational variable, not a preferences variable. That is, reloading a situ that has this feature unchecked, will ... after reloading ... uncheck it.

In other words, during trouble shooting, you need to be sure that the situ file you're working with and which you reload all the time, is stored with this feature checked.

I am the same as others here, but using P3D 2.4, and the latest Traffic.exe.
VATSIM OK,  PSX to P3D OK, but only very occasional TCAS returns on P3D to PSX, which don't seem to correspond with P3D traffic, and never anything close by..

I moved this post from the VisualPSX topic as it is specific to TrafficPSX only.

Hi Garry,

thanks for your previous assistance.

After a day of fruitless troubleshooting I've decided to call the battle for the evening with the traffic issue. I really cannot work out what the problem might be as your both TrafficPSX and VisualPSX are able to successfully connect every time to both PSX and FSX and run stably with no freezes, stutters etc etc.

As I mentioned before VisualPSX is working fine.

I have reinstalled all the VisualPSX suite and removed and re-installed a fresh copy of Simconnect.xml in the FSX folder under \\user\\app data\\\\ etc. No joy.

To add to the confusion.... if I select within TrafficPSX to send PSX traffic to FSX and then select one of the pre-set traffic scenarios (EG High Conflict Loop) in PSX, I immediately see the PSX generated traffic displayed on the ND and also displayed out the `window' in FSX. In that direction the traffic injection correlates perfectly - without exception, every time.

I confirm again that I have TCAS traffic `Externally Controlled' selected ON in PSX. IRS are aligned and the ND display is operating normally (and no faults are active in PSX)

I can only think of one other question at this time that I would appreciate your opinion on. In your manual you advise to run the Simconnect.msi. However when I try running this (on a Windows 8 machine) it flashes a dialog momentarily "Gathering Required Information" and then disappears with no apparent activity occurring. Not sure if it is working or not.

Exactly where should I expect this installer to be putting your simconnect.dll so I can confirm that it has worked correctly?? The WinSxS folder?? If so I cannot find it there at present - would that explain the issue I am having?

I do, of course, have the simconnect.dll already in the same folder as the VisualPSX/TrafficPSX applications.

Appreciate your help

Scud.

Hardy,

I checked my code just to make sure that TrafficPSX sets the traffic state to external at startup and on each situation load. It does and also sets the traffic state to none when closing if it was using external. For traffic going the other way, from PSX to FSX it does not change the traffic state.

I could not find any bugs but since traffic flows into PSX for some users and not others I wonder if it could be a timing issue? I send traffic position data to PSX every three seconds.

Scud,

Sorry to have overlooked your question. SimConnect.msi doesn't have an interface and takes only a second to run. The SXS folder is designed specifically to cater for multiple versions of the same DLL, to allow for incompatible upgrades so there is no problem. If the correct SimConnect DLL is not there then neither TrafficPSX nor VisualPSX will start.

Cheers,
Garry

Thanks for confirming the .dll is installed ok Garry.

I'll keep trying to get the traffic issue resolved and will let you know if I have any success.

Thanks and cheers

I use MyTraffic3D and have the same problem.
Aivlasoft Flight bag sees the traffic OK.
Garry, could you share the contents of your simconnect.xml file here, please, and let us know if you have seen success with any other AI traffic other than default?

Cheers

Hi Brit,

My XML file is shown in the VisualPSX Suite manual on page 3.

I have not used other than default FSX traffic except for VATSIM online traffic added through Squawkbox or vPilot.

My best guess is that the cause of the problem is external to TrafficPSX, but at this stage I can't be sure.

Cheers,
Garry

All my PSX related software is being stress tested this week during Worldflight. Matt's sim is running 24/7 and both VisualPSX and MotionPSX are running flawlessly, but TrafficPSX stops relaying traffic from FSX to PSX every couple of hours. This confirms a bug in TrafficPSX, now to find it...

As Garry said VisualPSX and MotionPSX just keep working on FSX the frame rates are awesome and the motion is smooooth.
TrafficPSX gets a restart every hour or so, it sounds like it may need a refresh routine as something is getting full or overloaded. But I am sure Garry will find it.
Also remember when you are testing to use the above and below buttons on the TCAS panel, this will expand your field of view when climbing and descending.
A +7000 and -2700 ft.
N +2700 and -2700 ft.
B +2700 and -7000 ft.

Hi,

I found a couple of issues with TrafficPSX:

* Does not send the keybind to the ATC client when PSX PTT is pushed
* Crashes if transponder code starts with zero
* Crashes when PSX power is removed off the AC busses

VisualPSX:

* Does not maintain FSX battery (default 747). FSX load situation is fully running, and is OK for about 2 minutes after starting VisualPSX. FSUIPC installed but NOT registered.

Other than these, flawless.  8)

Could you advise which client and version you are using?
