How to add subframe

Hello,

I recently bought PSX and I'm a very happy customer! Many years ago I also bought PS 1.3. Happy to be back;-)

I would like to change the predefined layout a bit. Does anyone know how I can add an extra subframe? I know how to change the existing ones, but not how to add an extra one if possible. I did read the manual, and I'm sure I overlooked something. I also did try to search the forum. Sorry if there is already a topic. I just can not find it.

Any advice is welcome!;-)

Hello,

it depends on what you mean by "add".

The principle is simple:
You have three "dividers" which you can drag around on the screen.
This will give you up to four sub-frames (which will always "fill up" the monitor completely, no "overlapping" of sub-frames).

You can then move and zoom the content in each sub-frame independently to your liking.

You can also move all dividers to the edges, then you'll have one single "sub-frame" (but the dividers are still there, just sitting at the edges).

You can not add a new sub-frame "on top of" or "across" the others (like an extra pop-up panel in MSFS) if that is what you mean.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

That certainly helps. Wasn't aware of the " limit"  of three dividers. But I guess it makes sense. And I surely do not want any subframes on top of each other. I work it out.

Just one additional question... are there somewhere layout files, apart from the ones on the DVD, that users share with each other and for instance can be uploaded?

Anyway, many thanks for the quick reply!

I'm having trouble with the "+/-" zoom in/zoom out buttons - they are sometimes in front of a button or switch in the 747-400 controls.  If my cursor overlaps the location of the zoom button, it takes precedence over interacting with the 747 button or switch that sits underneath.

Is there some way to turn the zoom buttons off and on so I can more easily use all the space within a sub-frame?
Best wishes,

Simply shifting the sub-frame content a little (right-drag with mouse) is not an option, Phil?

I was trying to avoid having blank strips along the bottom of each zoomable subframe.  Not a big deal to have them, of course.

Ideally, a keyboard command to activate/deactivate the blue zoom buttons while *always* providing keyboard-controlled zooming in and out would be preferred (by me, at least!).  Maybe Hardy will consider adding this sort of feature as item "number 8,402,323" on his PSX "to do" list!

I continue to be both amazed and dazzled by the extraordinarily rich depth and breadth of PSX features.
Best wishes,
