Window focus in OS X 10.8.5

Hi Mac users,

does anybody know a solution to this? It's hard to find an answer on Google.

Situation:

Application A has several open windows.
Application B has several open windows.
All A-windows overlay all B-windows.

Action:

I click on a single B-window because I want to have the focus on this single B-window. All other windows should keep their focus sandwich layer position.

Result:

In OSX 10.6.7:
Only this clicked, single B-window comes to the foreground. Good!

In OSX 10.8.5:
All B-windows now overlay all A-windows. Heck!

Problem:

I want 10.8.5 to behave like 10.6.7.

It might have something to do with "Mission Control". But I see no option there. Switching workspaces with all windows is nice sometimes. But sometimes I just want to see a single Photoshop window over a Firefox window, for example, instead of covering Firefox with all 200 Photoshop windows that are currently open in the background.

Cheers,

Edit: It's a Photoshop specific problem.

Not a solution, but a workaround which works for me:
Put application A on desktop 1 and application B on desktop 2.

Now I switch desktops with CMD + arrow (left or right) and have the right application in front of me.
