Would Hardy or someone let us know what the approximate number of lines of Java was required for PSX?
Best wishes,

Phil Bunch

Hi Hardy,
As always your responses are a pleasure to read.

the last 3 years flew by like 3 weeks, didn't they? :-)

The closer one comes to the grim reaper the faster time passes.

Will there be a converted Dollar price for this one? Since the Euro flutuates so much, and is dependable on the Dollar in my country, I would surely benefit from a Dollar price I guess.

Hi,  young Derek.

"The closer one comes to the grim reaper the faster time passes."

I Could not agree more. That is why I have taken the quick way out by using
touch screens instead of all that wiring, as you know time is of the essence.
But I agree with Hardy, I must calm down and try the program on my usual computer,
then, decide how to spend my meagre pension. Wise words from a wise Wizard
I will not now start spending until 1st September.
Kind Regards
Russell

I wonder what sort of touch screens you are considering using?

I'm considering my options for a rebuild of the simulators here

Hi there JJ, we met in person when I visited the FlightGear booth at the Linuxworld Expo in the Moscone Center in SF back in 2001! I was visiting from Venezuela, although I doubt you remember me after all this time, of course! but nevertheless it sure is a nice surprise to see you're still around.

Take care

Hi jj
"I wonder what sort of touch screens you are considering using?"

It is early days yet but I am considering using 5 off 23" touch screen monitors
e.g. 2 for the M.I.P.(no room for First Officer) 2 for the Pedestal. 1 for the Overhead.
The scenery will be provided by my 8 year old 32" Toshiba T.V.
My wife will get a new T.V. as a sweeter!

I am Pondering at the moment as to the number of touch point per screen
Obviously at least 1 touch point is needed.
If the TCP/IP is fast enough which I think it is 5 points would be good
but more expensive. It would allow 2 hands on, or very quick consecutive operation
particularly when using keypads.
The above will give me a full size simulator And could be assembled in about 1 weak.

Kind Regards
Russell

p.s. I will be joining the Octo's next January.

Thanks for the info.  As I now know NOTHING about touch screens I have some research to do!

Have you researched what would be a good brand (manufacturer) to consider?

take a look at Dell's touchscreens, they have had very good reviews.

400guy

Thanks, I'll look at that.  I also was also given this link:

http://www.iekiosk.com/

which seems to have a lot of stuff, but so far I've not seen their prices!

(Perhaps we should start a new thread about touch screens!)

Note that PSX has no clue about multitouch. Even if your displays would support it, PSX would just receive a jumble of mouse clicks, at best. Won't work. One click per PSX instance at a time, at least for now.

Hi Hoppi

Perhaps the question should be. How many consecutive ( One click per PSX instance at a time,) in clicks per second?
Or what is the interval demanded by PSX between mouse operations?
Or how fast could 2 consecutive complete mouse operations be resolved by PSX?

"Note that PSX has no clue about multitouch."Neither have I but I am in good company
it seems.
 Kind regards
