Low Fuel Temp

Flying Mick

Hello Gentlemen,
Had a nice and short domestic flight from Berlin Tegel to Stuttgart with my PS
lately and cruised up to flight level FL 350. Short before my descend my "Low
Fuel Temp" amber Light engaged.
Well I didn't find the "heating switch" for my Jet A1 fuel tanks, so had to fly lower anyway...
Is the new PSX ( can hardly wait to order The New one next year :o)  ) going
to have one of these "fuel-heating-switches ?

Regards
Michael

Welcome to the forum, Michael.

On the real 744 there are no fuel heaters*. Hence there are none in the sim either. All you can do is fly at a warmer altitude, or increase airspeed to increase the temp  of the air around you, or use a different fuel type in advance.

Cheers,

Thank You Hardy,
for Your quick answer! Do airliners have this problem anyway?
Flying back from the States to Europe last November we had –62 °F at
a tail wind airspeed of 200 km/h and maintaining the "ride" on the Jet-Stream
as long as we could :o)

See Ya

Yes, it happens sometimes.

And rumour has it that airplanes fall out of the sky because of it ;)  e.g. the British Airways 777 ( BA038 ) incident at Heathrow on 17th January.

OKD

G'day gentlemen....

Talking about the BA 777 incident....did anyone hear the root cause of it from the officials....? I am still trying to follow up with this one, and hoping that not becasue the pilots were having a heated arguement about their "company policies"...!!
OK....I am ok, if you are ok...!!

Peter Lang

no heated arguments. More cold items, like freezing condensed water in the fuel pipes.

Is that official or still looking at something else....?

I do not know. This is stated as an interim report. Perhaps some day a final report will be published.
