Hi All,

Today the 747-400ER that was meant to be operating QF7 from SYD to DFW went tech and was replaced by regular -400 VH-OJC.

According to flight aware the distances were Direct: 7,464 nm    Planned: 7,575 nm    Flown: 7,985 nm and the route was:

DIPSO G595 ALLOC GORDO 2715S 16300E 2500S 16600E 2400S 16800E 1900S 17700E 1500S 17800W 1148S 17358W 1100S 17300W 0800S 17000W 0500S 16628W 0200S 16300W 0000N 16100W 0700N 15500W 1400N 14900W 2000N 14300W 2500N 13700W 2900N 12900W FICKY C1177 MALIT C1156 MZB J18 GBN J50 SSO J4 EWM J66 FUZ

More info

Could this be the longest RPT pax flight the -400 has ever done?

A tech stop has been added in AKL on the way back.

Hope this was of some interest.

Cheers,

-Joe

Well according to Wikipedia this SYD to DFW is indeed the longest 747 pax flight.

Was interesting to also read that Quantas also flew a 744 Sydney to London (11.185 miles), but that was a delivery flight and not a pax flight.

I alwasy enjoyed doing these ultra long haul flights on PS. So time for PSX to be finished so we can try out these two flights!

I winder what accounted for the 410 mi difference between the planned and the actual miles flown?

Hi JJ,

I don't know, but I guess there were better wind conditions on the longer route.
