777 DU Video Signal

For the 777:

The Graphic Generators in the AIMS cabinet output the video signal for the 6 DU's, and feed them to 4 coaxial splitters and then to the DU's = so i assume that no symbol generation, etc happens on board the DU (unlike the 320 system)

The ARINC channels seem to be used only for the remote light sensors....

Does anyone know what format the video signal is in? it's a coax cable.... is it a standard format used in consumer electronics, or is it an exotic aircraft specific system...

for argument's sake, if one were to tap one of the co-ax's, can you bring up the image on a external LCD/CRT...

Reading the maintenance manuals, it sounds like an exotic system. "High speed coaxes"?

You would probably have to replicate the AIMS cabinets to get the display to show what you want.

Two symbol generators in each AIMS cabinet sends data on 4 coaxes to each DU. The behaviour of the DU is partially determined by its location (pin programming, perhaps?)

Data also goes from the DU to the AIMS cabinet (light sensor data and fault data).

The stuff in the cabinets is proprietary. I don't think even Boeing know what goes on inside

Yes, the pin config determines the location of the unit, capt inboard, etc....

Do the level D sims have the acft AIMS boxes? or do they simulate this....?
