Let's open the topic

This year, most of the usual suspects and a few greenies will join the obligatory round-the-world flight from Sydney to Sydney and pass through a few interesting destinations.

Tijuana?!?!?

Does the US State Department know you're planning air flights to and from Havana??  (grins)

Did you notice we happen to avoid a certain country altogether this year? Nobody can accuse us from operating those prohibited flights

They can still swap Havana for Miami -- technically the same... from here you can see the USA in the distance (on a clear day).

I thought the skipping of this certain country was just coincidence not because of any "issues?" ;)

And off they go...

Apologies for BAW744, something went wrong with the sim and they had no choice but to leave with the others.

Ok, first leg down.

Not bad, just one hour late after one leg!

I am going to bed

Hi All,   What a lot of fun on the first leg of world flight. I understand that 65 aircraft left Sydney for Auckland.  Flying on one's own it makes for a very busy 3 hours. The greatest difficulty was trying to get a word in edgewise to Sydney Ground to get start and taxi.
Question for those involved. I tried to use ACARS for the flight and although I got clearance it only came through on TopCat not the MCDU and after this I ended up with a blank screen on the MCDU.
I guess I was doing something wrong!

Cheers

Last I looked KONA is still part of the great state of Hawaii in the US of A.  You will have to grovel and apologize before you get your next Mai Tai  :) .

And a great ride we had into Kona, and onward to Mexico.  Thanks to our US cousins!

I think the rout this year had us shooting through Central America due to some requests for different airfields and approaches (such as Mexico City), before heading over to Europe as we have a lot of supporters over there and so spend more time in that region.

No team USA for a few years...  :(

You got me. I didn't look at the itinerary myself, just went off what others were telling me :P Maybe I should have qualified with mainland US of A? :D

Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers

Take care not to log into ACARS with two times the same call sign. One of the clients will snoop the replies away. In this case, TOPCAT ate the replies meant for the aircraft.

Typically you have TOPCAT log in as your dispatch callsign. Such as, you are BAW, TOPCAT logs in as BAW, you aircraft logs in as BAW123. This allows the exchange between stations.

Finally some known territory. 11 years ago we honeymooned somewhere on this shot; now we live within one hour flying. Life stays interesting    8)

Yeah, it looked to me too that the USA was bypassed ... till I saw Hawaii. Sneaky!  8)

Any answers, anyone?

See post 13!

The subject of the route comes up every year.... :?

Next year if you look for just not quite the real USA, try Miami, the capital of South-America

Hundreds of invisible, top secret interceptor drones have been launched.

Now you know why your rogue WF airliners will spontaneously "malfunction" and disappear.  Your only hope is to slow down radically, lower your landing gear, and divert to the nearest US of A airport and personally surrender!!

Best wishes,

Phil Bunch
