Crew alertness monitor

I think we don't need this feature. It generates the EICAS caution message >PILOT RESPONSE and a beeper when you haven't pushed a certain button in the past 37 minutes.

If you fly the sim, you will play with the buttons anyway, and if you intentionally leave the flying sim, you don't want the alert.

But ... just curious: Does anybody know why they made the design more complicated by making two categories of buttons? Group 1 (e.g. VHF keys) prevents or clears the alert; while group 2 (e.g. CDU MENU key) just prevents the alert, but won't clear it.

I think we do need it.  One of the Boeing pilots back in the day (maybe it was Kim) talked about a game they'd play in flight: each pilot took turns pressing buttons that wouldn't clear the message until someone cleared it and lost.

But remember, my todo list is 5 miles long.

And PSX perhaps isn't necesssarily the last PS upgrade.

Okay, fine.  (grin)  Hardy, I'd love to peek inside your brain.  It seems like so much is done already; it's hard to imagine how there could be 5 miles of stuff remaining.
