Hi all,

Got lost. After moving house and resetting the network, it came out that my rudder pedals are not recogized by the system (vista 64). Downloaded drivers etc.... no way. Still I get the message "USB device not recognized". I have been moving home several times and never got here... Any clue?*

Thanks for helping

Philippe

Does the Windows "Device Manager" software offer any clues?  E.g., any symbols indicating a dysfunctional device?  Does anything change if you "scan for hardware changes" within the device manager?   Sometimes for me, rebooting  and *then* plugging in the non-functioning USB device helps.  I suggest that you rule out bad USB ports by changing the device to a new USB port, preferably directly into the PC's own USB ports rather than via an external USB port expander device - some USB devices insist on being plugged directly into a PC-based USB port.  Similarly, is it possible to plug the non-functioning device into another PC to verify that it works?  If it's possible to swap out the USB cable, that would be good to try, too.  One thing at a time, of course!

I realize all these suggestions are things you've probably already tried and found irrelevant but I would like to try to help starting with the simpler things to try.
Best wishes,

Phil Bunch

Thanks Phil

Indeed I tried all that.... still "Unknown device" even on another machine.... The only thing I cannot do is to change the USB cable (one end is embeded in the device...)

phil;

Have you tried a different OS as well as a different machine? Only because Vista sucks and I wouldn't put it past Vista to break.

Yes I did that on 7 as well. (between you and me... I croos my fingers... I am one the rare Vista user VERY happy the OS.... not a signle bug with this machine which  is now several years old...)

I am now thinking replacing the pedals..... I'll see that next week and will give a chance for a solution over the week-end

Thanks Phil for your assistance

Phil,
I am also been one of the happy Vista users. Although I now have 2 Win7-32 PCs and a mighty Win7-64 PC as my rig, I used to have auto-update on for Vista and noticed a good improvement through the years
Cheers, Richard

Hi.
My name is Javier. I'm from Spain. Sorry for my poor English!
Looking for solutions to solve the same problem as that of Phil, i found this post.

My Saitek Pro Flight Rudder Pedal is not recognized by Windows 7 64-bit
I'm try with other PC (also with W7 64Bits) giving the message "unknown device"

Is there any solution?

Thaks for your assistance.

Alex

Hi guys,

I had a similar issue like that and missed this information:

Alpha 12:
• Analysis text file "USB-Detect.txt" is now generated at sim start again for testing.
• A pref file, e.g. Default.pref, now contains a text line called "UsbUnknownIncl=0" which can be edited with a text editor. When set to "UsbUnknownIncl=1", all unknown USB devices (wireless keyboard etc.) will appear on the USB page. The text line "UsbUnknownIncl=0" is generated when Alpha12 is loaded and exited. The standard setting is "UsbUnknownIncl=0", i.e. wireless keyboards etc. will not appear on the USB page.

Regards,
Alex

Thank you very much, Alex.

Hi Alex
I do not manage to find the file " USB - Detect.txt " that you mention not even the file "*.pref".
Where I can find it?

Alex

Assuming that your software is installed on drive c: please look for:
USB-Detect.txt is located @ c:\\Aerowinx\\Developers
Default.pref is located @ c:\\Aerowinx\\Preferences

Alex

Is there a demo version of the simulator, just to try to fix my pedals?
