I just got the program up and running on my laptop running windows. I noticed some tabs on the instructors screen do do have a scroll bar (ex. Position). I already went to my settings to turn off the option to hide some scroll bars, and it still didn't work. Are there any other ways to get the scroll bar working?

Also, I noticed that the numbers on the laptop do not allow you to flip between layouts, is this a laptop thing?

The Position page does not have scroll bars. (Because it contains fixed objects.)

Some Instructor pages have a flexible layout that changes with the page size and ratio, and these pages get scroll bars whenever any page part is cropped.

The default Instructor page is 800 pixels high. Is that too large for your laptop?

Cockpit layouts can be selected by numeric keypads, not by the upper number keys. (Those are for thrust and other things.)

I can just see there's more information on some of the instructors pages, but it won't let me scroll down to see it, because there's no scroll bar. So it does look cropped. I'm not sure if 800 is too high or not. What options do I have to change it?

Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers

800 pixels vertical is a hard-coded PSX limitation that you cannot change. However you may be able to change the resolution of your display, if only to show that this is the limitation. Few notebook/laptop computers have just 800 pixels vertical nowadays, so I guess you run the computer in a lower resolution than it is capable of.

On the Position page, at the bottom right, below "Aircraft position", there are edit fields for TAS, Hdg, Alt. Can you see them? They are within the 800 pixel range. If you can't see them, your laptop must be a very old model. You asked in another thread about starting PSX on your Macbook. Does that work now?

Running the program on Mac didn't work (system requirements weren't met), so I downloaded it on my other laptop running windows and it works perfectly other than the scroll bar issue. I can't see the options you mentioned on the position page, and I remember running into this problem with the program in the school house (desktop computer) when I got my 747 type rating and a buddy of mine fixed it somehow and I'm trying to reach out to him to figure what he did.

What are the model names of your Mac notebook and Windows laptop?

And what operating systems are running on them?

DStock

It's a Dell laptop and I'll let you know what system it's running. Not going to use the Mac. The program is running great on the Dell. Just had an additional question m, is there a keyboard shortcut for the auto-takeoff or just on the instructor screen?

It's a Dell Latitude 7490 running Windows 11 Pro 1.90GHz Quad core

The Internet is telling me the Dell 7490 has 1920 x 1080 pixels. So it should be able to show the entire Instructor frame.

There's also a sample layout file in PSX for this size; you can load it from the list on Instructor > Layout > Load by clicking "1920x1080 Full Screen.9pack".
But this will not solve your Dell's general "zoom" problem.

Does your laptop documentation mention any zoom function that zooms (and blurs) a part of the monitor? (As Jeroen suggested above.)

Maybe it's the Windows 11 "Magnifier" function: https://youtu.be/_p8j3nq52Mk?t=31

"Takeoff controlled by virtual pilot"

Hit the F11 key when the flight deck frame is in the foreground (not when the Instructor frame is in the foreground).

Also please note the conditions for this feature in the Aerowinx manual, page 47.

For reference: All keys are listed on page 27 thru 34.

I see three potential things that Windows can throw at you. All have their use, just not here.

1. Do not set your screen resolution to something less than 1920 x 1080. This enlarges all display items which may be what you want for readability, but does not work for PSX. Search for "Display resolution".

2. Do not enlarge only the font size. Search for "Make text bigger". This may or may not influence PSX. Don't -- set text to the smallest size possible.

3. Do not enlarge everything. Search for "Make everthing bigger". This is expressed in a percentage, and you want 100%, else there is underground magnification going on all the time.

Some windows "apps" work nicely with all these things as they are designed from the ground up with phone and tablet size displays in mind and scale all the way to 8k on the wall (not that this is pretty or useful). But PSX does not. It assumes a stable canvas to paint on.
