Runway numbers...

Good morning, and... two questions :-)

1) What is the best way to change rw numbers in PSX, when real world runway numbers get updated?

I have installed the latest NavData from Navigraph, running their NavData updater for PSX, and I did notice the headings at LPPT are now updated, but when I start a flight from LPPT there the RWs are still listed as 03 / 21, while since last may they changed to 02 / 20.

And yet another question...

2) Regarding magnetic declination updates that are now possible by the user, what is the last reference used in PSX's Earth model?

Thank you!

That's it. That nav database has those numbers. So either the update didn't work or Navigraph missed the runway numbers.

Ah! Jeroen, I thought so, but since they supposedly update it correctly in MFS I would think the same happens in PSX.

Will open a support ticket with Navigraph. Thanks :-)

Your current PSX mag data month/year is shown on Instructor > About: "Earth's magnetic field: ..."

I have FEB 2019 which sets the LPPT rwy mag hdg to 025° (tru 023°). Exact rwy hdgs in PSX are calculated based on threshold coords. Rwy IDs come from nav database.

Aerosoft cycle 2212 sets rwy ID to 02/20.

Thank you Hardy,

and OFC my bad regarding rw numbers :-(

I had forgotten to select "Navigation database" --> 2213-Navigraph ...

Now when I start from LPPT runways 02 / 20 are presented.

hello, is it ok to have incorrect runway hdg for some airports correct hdg for other airports? MMMX, VHHH, KLAX correct rwy hdg info, for KORD, KJFK, PANC incorrect data. navigraph 2213. earths mag field IGRF2020 oct 2022.

thank you.

Hi Oscar, what do you mean by "to have" and "info"?

for VHHH 07L i got in PSX a runway heading of 074 mag, navigraph jeppesen 074 this is correct. for PANC rwy 33 i got in PSX a hdg of 330 mag, navigraph jeppesen 329 incorrect data, incorrect LOC final app course.

Such small differences of circa one degree are normal. The values on the charts come from different governments, and they all use different magnetic variation data tables. On top of that, the magnetic variation data table on the 747, which is installed in the onboard Rockwell-Collins IRS, is also different (typically even older than all current charts). PSX simulates that IRS. And this simulated IRS applies the magnetic variation data table which the PSX user has installed (or not installed, in which case the default data is used). In short words, on the real 747 you might see even greater differences than in PSX. A data update in the real IRS is very expensive. Airlines want to avoid these costs.
