Hangar 7 / Re: Parking brake during cockp...

Depends on the circumstances. How did the accumulator get low pressure?

Was the aircraft transitting and had hot brakes?
Was the aicraft towed from the hangars to the gate by the engineers (the engineers would not only have set the brakes with full pressure, but chocked the wheels, too). We would leave maybe an inch between the wheels and chocks, otherwise during aircraft loading, the wheels would expand and sit on the chocks and we would have a hell of a time removing them. In some situations, we would use a spare chock to slam against the stuck one. Sometimes it takes half a dozen hits. If that failed, we would ask the tug driver during pushback to pull the aircraft in a particular direction to try to get the tyre off the chock (not easy when both chocks are in tight).

We relied on chocks all the time. One set on the nose, one set on one of the main gears was standard. Closer to departure time, we would pull the one on the main gear. During wheel changes, we had to take the brakes off. In this situation, we made sure the chocks were in tight.

When putting on hydraulics, always ask the permission of the ground crew.

Hangar 7 / ACARS METAR
Last post by ASCTU744 - Mon, 8 Apr 2024 05:51
I have two questions regarding ACARS METAR format:

1. Is the transition level for the destination airport the same as the one I need during descent? Since you tend to pass the TL well before your destination airport.

2. The ACARS METAR gives you an "EXPECT RNWY" value, is this for takeoff or landing?

ACARS D-ATIS:

EHAM B 161320Z
EXPECT RWY 06
TRANS LVL 40

Unless the brakes are hot and the parking brake is released to help cooling, pressurise the system (with the #4 Aux), set the park brake, ensure the accumulator is pressurised, and then depressurise the system.

You don't want to be relying only on chocks, particularly during passenger/cargo loading, unless there is a specific reason.

Hangar 7 / Parking brake during cockpit p...

This is a pretty basic question... I'm looking for opinions about setting the parking brake during cockpit preparation when the brake accumulator is showing low pressure. Is there any point? Or would you always wait until the hydraulics are at least on "Aux" so that the pressure is in the green? Rely on chocks, in other words, until there is pressure? Or set it anyway, knowing that pressure stored in the system, even if low, will keep the aircraft from rolling?

Thanks as always.

hi hardy

your sim is great

the flight dynamics   its like flying a real full motion airline training sim

how simalar is the flight model  in your  sim to say a CAE 747 full motion sim

braking mometum  down the runway feels right

and
during the approach to landing the control colums  is pulled back in you lap with big aileron movements
so that matches you tube 747 cockpit landing vids

xplane 12 got a virtual cockpit

hi

looking for pics from left seat cockpit perspective  of a 747 400  and 747-8i

pic to be looking straight foward at the main instrument panel  or primary flight instruments  with the glare and some of the front window showing
so can cut out the front window  for landing practice etc

for a single monitor flight sim

so i can cut holes out of these pics as a png image  for the PFD ND ECAS  and EFIS MCP
then overlay on xplane 12 scenery generator

i can pay for these if they are avalible on alamy or istock etc

4k or 8k res

this one from matterport would have been ideal but the model on matterport isnt avalible

Hello,

By chance anyone has any input in regard to these devices ? Would they work with PSX as IDU ?

https://winwingsim.com/view/goods-details.html?id=417

Eventually are there any better alternatives? (More or less for the same price..)

Many thanks.
