Good news!
The FAA now approves Aerowinx Precision Simulator (version 10.73) as a Systems Integration Trainer -- thanks to the kind ladies and gentlemen at Atlas Air who organized the bureaucratic steps.
Cheers!

Edit: And the Israeli ICAA too now approves it for CAL Cargo Airlines (http://aerowinx.com/board/index.php?topic=5248.msg56515#msg56515).
Excellent and congratulations Hardy! The reward for your first class work on PSX. Well deserved

As a PS user since 1998, I'd like to join the others and congratulate you! I am not surprised about this approval though, the simulation is top notch!
Excellent news Hardy,
It has always been a testament to PSX when we have real world 747 pilots coming over to use the sim who forget they are not in a Level D sim, always blown away with how deep into the 747 systems PSX goes.
Now you have the recognition you deserve! Good work sir, a true gentlemen since we first virtually met in 1998!
Thank you again!
Gary
Congratulations, Hardy!
Well deserved..
Peter
I know what this paperwork entails, so next to Hardy, I most definitely also wants to congratulate the Atlas guys & gals for this achievement.

Congratulations Hardy.
Congratulations! Very well deserved and testament to your amazing achievement with PS13 and now PSX. I've spent a career working in IT and software and PSX is unique in so many ways. Very pleased for you.
Congratulations Hardy !
Well deserved !!
Wow! Nice job. Congrats!
Congratulations!
A most remarkable event and well-deserved recognition for PSX and its creator.
--------------
Thanks to Atlas for helping to make this happen.
PS: will this recognition change how frequently or how easily and1 rapidly PSX can be updated or patched?
Hi Hardy,
Great news, congratulations!!!
Cheers
Volker
Congratualtions!
A truly deserved result!!!

My guess is that a specific revision of PSX was certified and this will remain fixed
for the FAA certification. However it won't stop Hardy releasing whatever he wants. It's just that the people/companies wanting to take credit for training hours on PSX will need to stick with the certified revision until somebody does the paperwork for a minor upgrade (no problem, just work).
Minor = no new features = bit of paperwork only.
Major = new features = all paperwork again, unless you write up similarity analyses. Like, a change in some flight analysis recorder can be shown to not hurt the systems part.
Hoppie
Thank you all.
I'm not involved in the FAA specific paperwork, but I can say that updates will continue as usual, and the next one is already in the works -- for Atlas and everyone.
Instead of using one conventional fixed based sim for X hours with one teacher and two pilots, they now use PSX within the same time frame with the same teacher and
ten pilots. That saves a lot of time and money.

I learnt the FAA did not only approve it, they
loved it ... :-)
I hope they paid you a small fortune for the privilege as they have no objections to charging us fortunes for licences / ratings.
Congrats Hardy. Fantastic work.

Warmest congratulations, Hardy — a recognition that is long overdue! (https://s20.postimg.cc/kjh9j0r7h/clapping_shouting.gif) (https://s20.postimg.cc/6wmor6yvx/yahoo(anim).gif)
I think this calls for an additional banner headline on the customer page of aerowinx.com? (https://s20.postimg.cc/z0bf0ab2l/teeth.jpg)
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond, but I'm currently in recovery mode after enthusiastically helping to celebrate my daughter's 50th birthday this weekend. (That was some party...!).

Next step ICAA :-) (Israeli Civil Aviation Administration)
I wonder how "easy" this will be. I read in Israeli light aviation forum that these guys love to complicate everything.
By the way, are you in contact with "Captain Boeing"?
Cheers,
Thank you, guys :-)
Avi, all this bureaucratic stuff is done within the airlines; the FAA inspects the training systems there. I just provide software modifications upon the airline's requests, i.e. I'm just in contact with the respective airline.

...I just provide software modifications...
That sounds really modest :)
But we all know, that creating this piece of precious art work called PSX plus all modifications plus forum support was and still is hell of work.
I hope that this FAA approval is a very valuable "award" for you, honoring the days and nights for this gem.
Unfortunately I am too ignorant to fully understand what a "Systems Integration Trainer" exactly means, beyond the fact that airlines can offer certain trainings using PSX.
Anyways, you deserve it, congratulations!
Best regards, Holger
You can add the Israeli ICAA to your list as well as it has recently approved the CAL Cargo Airlines 747-400 Flight Training Device based on the PSX software to be used for the Flat Panel Training stage of the initial 747-400 type rating!!!
Ha! Thank you :-)
Perfect timing!
Cheers!

I am late to the party, but indeed, huge congratulations are in order.
Knowing first-hand how painful working with a civil aviation administration can be, especially to certify new things, what you accomplished is no small feat.
It shows both the robustness and realism of your wonderful software.
I feel privileged being one of your customers.

Congratulations Hardy!

Andrea Buono
you really deserved this approval.
I have been using precision simulator since ps1 in 1998 (20 years already), with as much fun.
We are all lucky to have a high level simulator at home. Congratulations
FAA and ICAA, outstanding accomplishment. Congrats Hardy.
Hats off and congratulations to these well deserved awards!

long time coming well deserved
BIG congratz Hardy from Denmark- so incredibly well deserved !!
Cheers
I've been holding off commenting on this thread because I'm gobsmacked - not just that the FAA approved this, but that Hardy managed this at the same time as creating a community of folks using PSX on platforms all the way from one computer/single screens to full motion simulators! This Forum is a larger community than just pilots and software nerds. I don't think the like of it has been seen before.
Thanks Hardy!
Torrence
Hi Hardy
Congratulations to that well deserved honor! I took my afternoon off today as a birthday gift to myself to enjoy a flight from zurich to london and back with all whistles and bells... It's still that program that amazes me most of all I ever had!!
And Torrence, your absolutely right. I am "just" a plane fan with no relations to real airplanes besides flying on holidays, but it's so amazing what you can learn in here just by reading the topics. Most of them I don't understand half of it, but still it's so interesting and I want to go further and the forum and program always motivate me to do so!
Regards
Beat LSZH
Thanks again, ladies and gentlemen.
Let me add that PSX wouldn't be so precise without all the contributions and hints from many people of this community.
Cheers,
|-|ardy
If the community is so active, it is because the product is of an outstanding quality. And also because it's creator provides day to day an amazing five stars support!
Congratulations, well deserved!
Steve
I'm a bit late but still congrats!
Does anyone know where to find the paperwork, I'm curious which FTD's use Aerowinx.
The paperwork is at Atlas Air. They won't put it on their website :-)
Here's a photo of their classroom in Miami with 40 CBTs with PSX:
Thank you! That's fantastic to see ;D
Excellent! :) 8)
Fantastic Hardy well deserved.
Way too many familiar sights in that picture. ;-)
So, basically, the FAA took just under one decade to affirm what every single one of us knew back in 2014.
Regardless, congratulations again!
Best regards,
Mariano
It took less than five years :-) This thread and that photo is from 2019. The work with Atlas started in 2017.
Then I take it back; five years is not bad for such a large agency.
My mistake.
Best regards,
Mariano
Congratulations, Hardy!
Although a little bit late :)
And please keep on going with this fantastic 744 flight simulator.
Best regards,
Eric
Still looks amazing.
Actually, I never thought about it before. Do you have any indication whether this setup is used in demonstration mode (e.g. all individual workplaces are a client to the instructor PSX) or for free play (which surely makes sense) - or both (are the students connecting / disconnecting to the server PSX themselves, then?). In any case, having all student workstations look the same is remarkable. :-)
Markus
Every seat is free play. No network except for version updating. But they all have the same set of situation files specific to Atlas Training which are not in the original Aerowinx package, and there's just one file in the Model folder: An Atlas model :-)
|-|ardy
Well done and well deserved I would say.
This is fantastic news! Congratulations Hardy! 8)
Well done Hardy!
I think ATLAS has more than one aircraft model:
- 400F
- 400ERF
- 400BCF
- 400BDSF
- 400FSCD
- 422
- 443
- 481
...
That's right. But for their training they want to use just one reference model on all stations.
|-|ardy
That is correct. For training purposes, (especially during initial training), they use one specific tail number, and differences are later reviewed and emphasized.
Regards,
Mariano
Does anybody know (or have) the atlas air .situ files, I'm kind of curious😅? If it's allowed to share ofcourse (i.e. copyrights)
Congratulations Hardy!! :D
Congratulations Hardy!
