Title: PSX Vibrate Released
Post by: Gary Oliver on Tue, 29 May 2018 11:50
All,

As some of you may have seen on the 'networkers' forum I have been developing a module to drive buttkickers, base shakers, earthquakes, and other types of sound driven transducers.

Thanks to Chris K, Britjet, Jon Boe, Jun, Gary, Farrokh and the Simfest crew for allowing me to jiggle their bottoms for beta testing.

Features

Speed brake Rumble (when speed brake deployed in flight)
Wheel Scrub, more than 20 degrees of tiller over 20 knots
Gear Up and Down Vibrations
RB211 Sound adds a flight vibration at high EPR settings
Turbulence is my favourite, when PSX is flying through turbulent air and when below FL100 with clouds varying levels of turbulence effects are played
Cargo Door when the fwd cargo door shuts
Taxi rolling ground fades in up to 20 kts and speeds up going down the runway
Takeoff rolling ground comes in at 60-70kts to add more rumble on take off
Touchdown - leave at max volume and it slightly adjusts depending on touchdown rate
Starter adds vibrations during the engine start sequence.
Leading Edge flap retraction rumble

Requires

Microsoft Visual C++2013 Redistributable(x64)

Download Link

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xoeh7nvz4c0ru76/PSXVibrate-V0.9.msi?dl=1

Instructions

1) Run installer

2) Set the PSX Server IP and Port, as well as the external sim router IP and restart.

3) Adjust the levels of the sounds to match your setup.

We also recommend running the Vibrate Module on a machine running PSX with default Airframe/Engine grounds enabled but rename the tire.wav file in audio/basics folder of PSX and feeding this through the same soundcard as the vibrators.

As always www.psxaddons.com for more information.

Cheers
Gary

thank you very much! :-)

Do you mind if I add your psxaddons.com link to the "Add-Ons" page?

Thanks Gary,
I've wanting something like this, especially a more defined speedbrake rumble. Thank You.

Sorry to report that I can not get it running, just have a crash issue on Windows 7.
It ran on one of my Windows 10 machines, working fine, but that is not the one with the PSX audio.

Greg,

It worked here on Windows 8.1 and 10.

I would imagine its because Windows 7 doesn't have the .net 4.5.1 runtime installed.

Try downloading and installing from https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=40779

If that doesn't work, send me a message on FB messenger and I can remote in and have a look.

Cheers

The issue was either the C++ 2012/2013/2015 Runtimes missing..

We installed all 3 x86 and x64 and all is good...

Awesome piece of kit.
The sounds are a really fantastic enhancement to PSX's already great sound.
Turns out the cargo door closing is my favorite. :)

What a pity.
Everything  is running with xplane except that the sounds will constantly play  when you leave the ground.

Thierry,

I still have on my todo list to move from the PSX.ExternalSim Link to Native PSX variables as we discussed with Hardy on another thread.

Unfortunately this is still on the todo list, it can of course be moved up the list for a promise of beer :-)

Getting that sort of stuff over here is a challenge to say the least, and usually they bring you kriek no matter what you ask (no kriek, please).

Sorry,

I noticed that there was still a dependancy on PSX.NET.Router for the Altitude readout and some internal sound logic.

This has now been removed..

V0.76
=====
-Removed all requirements for PSX.Net.Router, All Data now direct from PSX
-Tuning of Low Level Turbulance Effects
-Random Low Level Turbulance effects now up to 15,000ft

I tried today to install and run PSX Vibrate but failed doing so.
I have WIN7 with Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.1 and Microsoft Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable both x64 and x86 (I also have them for 2010 but nothing in the middle).

When I try to run it (while PSX.NET is running or not), nothing happens. No window opens.
Any idea what is the problem?

Thanks,

I think you need Microsoft Visual C++2013 Redistributable(x64) - 12.0.40660

Turns out the cargo door closing is my favorite. :)

I tried to replicate this and wasn't able to pickup the fine details of the cargo door closing sounds..I loaded AIR CHINA CARGO with "DOORS CLOSING" situation. Wasn't able to distinguish between PSX Vibrate running and not running. Though other sounds were absolutely amazing..

Did you try turning the 'cargo door' sounds up on psx vibrate panel. By default they are only set to 20% that is what my installations shows?

John

So, this has to be run on the same machine as PSX?  That goes against my architectural philosophy.  I have an addon-box machine and a sim-box machine.  PSX runs on the sim-box and all addons run on the addon-box.  I can get PSX vibrate to connect to PSX but I'm unable to get it to connect to the router that's running on the same machine.  I've attempted localhost, 127.0.0.1 as well as the actual IP of the addon-box.  Also, I can get PSX to connect to the router.  What am I doing wrong here?  What port do I need to use and I presume ONLY the PSX server is communicating with the router and/or other addons?  Thank you in advance!

Jason Tutwiler

All,

An important update to PSXVibrate... I have been trying to work out where excessive PSX network traffic has been coming from in my sim..... I noticed a bug with PSXVibrate where it was sending demand messages to PSX several hundred times per second.

This has now been fixed.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/xoeh7nvz4c0ru76/PSXVibrate-V0.9.msi?dl=1

Don't forget to backup your config.xml file before running an update in existing setups

V0.90
======
-Fixes bug where its sending PSX hundreds of demand messages every second.

V0.80
======
-Bump Added when Nose Wheel turned to max whilst not moving
-Flap Rumble No longer occurs on the ground
-Aircraft Rumbles on brakes with engines at high thrust settings

I've noticed Buttkicker have released new versions called the Gamer Plus and Pro. Anyone tested PSX with these?

Do you think mounting a Buttkicker on the chair or on the simrig floor legs (on each corner) produces better results?

Hi Gary,

a really a great addon. I like it!  8)

In some wav files I hear lot of "click"-sounds. Perhaps my system only ...

I "declicked" those sounds. If you're interested in, I'm happy to share. And when you like them, feel free to publish them together with your addon.

Cheers

Hi Hans - I have the same clicking on some of the files (mainly the taxi rolling sound and bumps) - was about to check if the issue was in the wav files themselves or maybe a symptom of overloading an input. Sound like it is in the wavs :D

Would love to have your declicked sounds if possible?

Thanks in advance.

Now that I am FINALLY done with the fullsize 744 cockpit mock up ( on 9 touchscreens) I can start to add all the nice addons and tweaks.

Thanks 🙏

Hello Gary

This is my second year using PSX VIBRATE, and everything feels so smooth and realistic! Especially the synchronization with PSX actions, it's absolutely stunning! I'm thinking we could possibly add an additional vibration: a subtle vibration for low speed and a more intense one for stalling. Not sure if Gary has time to add this small feature, but I believe these two vibrations would significantly enhance the realism of the PSX controls.
:p

Jack

Do you need to have buttkicker/bassshaker connected to separate sound card?

I run everything on a single PC and have currently only the integrated motherboard soundcard.
