Title: PSXInterfaceIT V0.4
Post by: Gary Oliver on Mon, 18 Apr 2016 00:24
Hi Guys,

For those of you using FDS hardware with PSX a new update is available to V0.4

This contains a few fixes but the main points are :-

-Start solonoids now work
-Switches with Lines on the overhead now light up correctly (for example PackReset,ZoneReset, DriveDisc)

Thanks a million, Gary!  ;D

Here's a short video of my FDS start switches working correctly now!

Nice video but I'm a little bit surprised here. Why does the white light (start valve open indication) extinguish before the switch "jumps" IN. The start valve doesn't close before this.

Cheers,

Cheers,

I'm guessing a slight network delay. You can hear PSX's solenoid audio file play exactly as the start valve closes and the software solenoid releases, so that timing is correct. Obviously there's some delay between PSX saying the solenoid has released and my hardware switches getting the signal.

Well spotted Avi,

I was triggering the release solonoid on receiving a 0 from PSX, but its actually a bit mask on the solonoid.

I think the delay i added to wait for the solonoid to move before releasing the output was too long also.

Try this one Chris

Chris,

Can you make another video of the engines start but this time start 2 engines normally and for the other 2 add a malfunction (one for each)?
• Start valve fails to open.
• Start valve fails to close.

It will be interesting to watch.
Thanks,

Hi Gary,

thanks a lot for this update. I used it for some days now but there are two points which I want to mention:

1. the hardware Alt Zone Reset Sys Fault light always remains lighted, while in the PSX software it is off.
2. the INBD R landing light switch does not work. No signal arrives to PSX software.

I checked everything from the switches to the wiring but nothing solved the problem. Then I got the idea to go back to the old 1.31 version and everything worked again. So it seems to me that there are some bugs inside V0.4

Here the values from the input.txt
(FDS-SYS2X 128 inputs)
LtLandInbR=1/03EA00000806,52=0
LtLandInbR=0/03EA00000806,52=1

(FDS-SYS1X 128 inputs, 256 outputs)
ZoneReset=1/03EA000006FB,29=1
ZoneReset=0/03EA000006FB,29=0

and from output.txt
ZoneReset#upper/03EA000006FB,113
ZoneReset#lower/03EA000006FB,114

Peter,

My apologies the zone reset was a bug i introduced.  I couldn't find anything regarding the right inboard light.  Do the other ones work?

Anyway for now V0.41 available

Hi Gary,

thank you very much, I will check tonight.

Yes, the other 3 switches work as expected. They show correct switch positions in PSX and the lights come up in X-Plane.

In V 1.31 all 4 landing light switches work as expected.

All,

I think i found a typo that was causing the landing light switch problem.

V0.42 is now available with updated GUI and working firehandle lights

#firelight is the output definition.

Hi Garry,

sorry to say this, but in V0.41 as well as in V0.42, both Zone Reset and INBD R do not work here. Same as before.

Going back to 1.31 everything is fine.

Another item also in V1.31: when checking IND LTS TEST all lights illuminate except the 4 Enginge Start Valves and the 8 + 1 BTL Discharge lights (for RB211). The 4 +1 Fire Disch. lights I cannot test as I still do not have them.

Hi Gary,

Finally got around to upgrading to 0.42.

Fire lights are working brilliantly. Unfortunately, the ZONE RST issue remains (always showing a fault) so for now I've just removed it from the OUTPUTS.txt file.

Regarding the fire handles, should the entries in the inputs.txt file look something like this? :

FireEng1#0/03A0000125D,9
FireEng1#1/03A0000125D,10
FireEng1#2/03A0000125D,11
FireEng1#3/03A0000125D,12
FireEng1#4/03A0000125D,13
FireEng1#5/03A0000125D,14

During testing, I'm getting no movement on the handles (displayed in PSX) and if I jiggle them enough in this configuration, PSXInterfaceIT crashes.

Thanks!

Hi,

I have some questiona regarding the fire handles from FDS with PSXInterfaceIT_V0.43.

1.
When I try to add an assignmet for the LED, each pair of LED is enlighted by choosing the respective output value (in this case from 1 to 20). When I add the first pair this works and "FireEng1#firelight/03EA00001739,1" is shown in the output.txt file. As soon as I try to add the following 3 pars of LED, there is an error message. I can add them, but then PSXInterfaceIT_V0.43 brings the same error message during start up.
The output file shows the entries:

FireEng1#firelight/03EA00001739,1
FireEng1#firelight/03EA00001739,2
FireEng1#firelight/03EA00001739,3
FireEng1#firelight/03EA00001739,4

So it seems that there is only one pair allowed per fire handle. What did I do wrong? Or is there a description for this which I have overseen?

Same fpr adding the input values. I do get the following values
FireEng1=1/03EA00001739,1=1  - When pulling a handle
FireEng1=2/03EA00001739,2=1  - turning to the left
FireEng1=3/03EA00001739,3=1  - turning to the right.

moving the handle back to the center or pushing it up again does not generate values. From my understanding it should generate the values (same as for the gear lever) when one of the micro switches is set to off....

2.
The indicator lights for the BTL BISC lights are set to
EngBtl1aLt#indicator/03EA00001739,25
EngBtl1bLt#indicator/03EA00001739,26
EngBtl2aLt#indicator/03EA00001739,27
EngBtl2bLt#indicator/03EA00001739,28
EngBtl3aLt#indicator/03EA00001739,29
EngBtl3bLt#indicator/03EA00001739,30
EngBtl4aLt#indicator/03EA00001739,31
EngBtl4bLt#indicator/03EA00001739,32
ApuBtlLt#indicator//03EA00001739,33

When I press the TEST switch, all other lights are illuminated, except these EngBtl lights.
The Fire Handle LED also are not illumintated when I press the Fire test switch. (In PSX software they are, but not in the hardware)

So again, did I miss a description or what else is going wrong?

Peter

Peter,

I am pretty sure we got these working in Chris and JonB's sim.

I will point them here to have a look.  Unfortunately I don't run the FDS boards for the outputs in my sim.  I have never tried to assign more than one ouutput to the same PSX variable I must admit.

I have the inputs working fine though.  I will copy and paste my config file here over the weekend.

I am sure we can sort this out between us.

Thanks
Gary

Grab the set of LEDs closest to the numbers on the fire handles and go with it.  You error out with trying to assign multiple outputs to the same variable.

Jon

Hello Gary. I am Jack.
The same problem as Peter has, happen on me. When in testing, all lights are inlluminated except all the Btl lights and the Sys Fault lights. That means all the leds that interfaced as  "Indicator" are fail to inlluminated in Test mode.
But I have to say, they do work in non-Test-mode.
I am happy there is some one else has the same problem as mine.
Thank you. And looking forward the upgrade.
Best Regards
Jack.

Sorry about that guys.  Way back when I first gave Gary a list of variables and values I used the wrong value for all of the annunciators.  So... they work as expected when activated but don't illuminate when performing the light test.  Something about a value of 1 versus 8193.  Duh!

Cheers,

Jon

Ohh I see!
Is it possible to be fixed?

Oh, another problem found about the Fire Interfacing:
Version 0.43a
1. There is no qh279 "FireApu" shows in the list. Qh275~Qh278 shows.
2. There are 5 options to each "FireEng", 0 - 4. How can I know the function to each one?
3. The biggest problem, once I set either FireEng, the Whole Input list goes wrong. Each input corresponds to the wrong Qh I set.  But once I delet the FireEng input, every input goes back correct as I set.

Hope it could be fixed.

Regards
Jack

FDS board is one of the easiest-interface board, especially for the guy don't know any thing about the scrip and network...

Thank you very much, Gary

Hi,
I'm in the process of setting up a FDS 747 complete sim and running into a a couple of issues.
One of them being the fire handles. We're having the same issues where we cant assign more than 1 firelight to a handle, if we do the PSXInterfaceIT software ( well done Gary) won't connect.
Also in debug mode we can see the firehandle switches and assign them but inputs aren't recognized in PSX.
This post is a few years old but hoping someone is active!
Just wondering if anyone has a config file for the led outputs to save sometime manually assigning those!
Many thanks

Lee from Wales

Hi Lee,

The outputs in PSXInterfaceIT can only be assigned once or the software barfs.  I suggest just picking a string of LEDs near the center and assigning once per fire handle/APU handle.

I will have to look, since it's been awhile, at the fire handle inputs.  I recall they were assign able.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Lee,

Yes, the fire handles were configured and available for assignment.  If you look in the Inputs for PSXinterfaceIT you will find them under Qh 275 through 278.
