Title: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Thu, 24 Dec 2015 14:10
Hi,

Today I've released an open beta version of my (free) PSXseeconTraffic add-on for PSX. It builds upon Balt's and Garry's work.
With it you can fly with REAL LIFE / REAL TIME (-30 seconds) traffic in FSX SP2 or Prepar3D versions 2.5 or later.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:
- you need Balt's "RealTraffic for PSX", version 5.0.17 or later, Windows version;
- you need Garry's VisualPSX or Mark's PSX.NET P3D ExternalSim;
- you need my (free)  tool to generate a list of your installed AI Aircraft liveries;
- you have to set your AI traffic sliders in FSX/P3D to 0%!;
- for FSX:  do not select "Aircraft cast shadows on the ground" in your Scenery generator;
- make sure you have real life / real-time weather in PSX.

More information (Manual, Download info) can be found at [url=http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseeconTraffic.html]my website (http://www.lekseecon.nl/RealTraffic.html#AILGenerator%5B/url).

Merry Christmas!

Nico

EDIT: July 3, 2018:  Version 9.39 is up.

I tried it in the mean time (as could be expected from another Dutchman) and it works great.

Spectacular experience to fly between ... ;) real aircraft in real time and to see them in the ND (Balt) -and- in the scenery generator (Garry and now Nico in another way).

I couldn't resist to follow some aircraft into their ILS pattern.

Important to install as many as possible AI-aircraft from freeware libraries (instructions in manual).

Thanks Nico !

I realised later on that strickty speaking the internet data come from Balt's RealTraffic,
and that PSXseecon generates the visuals in the ND (and the data in de CDU).

Thanks for developing this addon. Maybe I'm confused but how does this improve on RealTraffic?

PSXseecontraffic not only injects the max (7) aircraft that are in TCAS range to PSX, it also injects ALL traffic within 40nm in your Scenery Generator (FSX or Prepar3D v2.5+), by generating the right liveries for it. It is similar to what vPilot does with VATSIM traffic.

PSXseeconTraffic updates the position of traffic in your Scenery Generator 20 times per second, so it looks smooth. It also controls gear and lights.

The Traffic that PSXseeconTraffic injects in PSX to be made visisible on the Captains ND is more stable than that of RealTraffic. This is due to the internal buffering of 40 seconds, which makes it possible for PSXseecontraffic to take care of erorrs and hick-up's.

Read more at my my website (http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseeconTraffic.html). You may find there a link to a  short You Tube video too.

Hi Nico

Thanks for the 1.04 update. I had a very successful flight LSZH to EHAM just now with LIVEATC providing the ATC  at the same time - great fun to see the aircraft live. I followed a Transavia 737 all the way from Top of Descent, landing, behind him on the taxiway and parked next to him - great fun!
I am sure the 40-second buffer is a nice idea - it clashes a little with the live atc but one learns to make allowances for it.
One thing - I find that P3D only shows a "label" on the traffic when it is within about 10 miles - have you or anyone any idea on how to extend the label range? The aircraft are there in P3D but difficult to spot at distance - I would like to cheat a bit :-)

Again - many thanks!

Peter

Hi Nico,

Many thanks for your work on this. I used the initial release before guests arrived for Christmas and was mesmerised watching arrivals and departures at Abu Dhabi with different P3D camera views. Real world traffic injection adds a whole new dimension to the sim. After family had left I tried v3 last week, but it seems unstable on my PC so I'll install v4 ASAP (unfortunately I deleted the original release file).

Could there be a future option to assign aircraft model/livery by aircraft registration as well as by airline prefix?

There seem to be a few software options available to delay audio aimed at synchronising radio commentary of sporting events to (delayed) TV picture feed. Running LiveATC on an Iphone or Ipad with headphone jack to PC sound card looks like it could work. Another gadget to add to the rig, at this rate we'll have the kettle and microwave hooked up to PSX next! Then we'll need an App to auto-tune LiveATC.....

Thanks again. As Britjet rightly said - great fun!  ;D ;D

Cheers
Jon

PS. Also big thanks to Balt and Garry!

Hi Peter,
Yes it is very interesting indeed to see real traffic.

Hessel came up with the idea to-optionally- let the landing aircraft stay (in the Scenery Generator) at the gate for say 45 minutes (Easyjet and Ryanair 25 minutes :-) ), instead of removing them when they are no longer in RealTraffics foreflight stream. That would make the airport look even more real. Of course one should not tick the Airports scenery option to have static aircrafts at gates.

I don't know, I'm sorry, maybe someone else can join in.

No that's not possible I'm afraid, while the aircraft registration information is not in the Foreflight data stream that I am getting from Balt's ReafTraffic add-on.

OK no problem Nico. I think UT2 has a facility to randomise the livery it displays where there's more than one available for a particular airline/aircraft combination, but this is really just a nice to have to allow variation and special liveries to be displayed.

Once again thanks so much for making our PSX world even better.

PSXseeconTraffic already randomises the livery, if here are more then one posssibilities for an airline/aircraft combination...
So install as much liveries as you can. I have 5843 ;-)

Hi, I am using P3D3 as a scenery generator. Connection works,  sees 68 liveries, but then it doesn't send any aircraft either to P3D or PSX (PSX works with traffic injection from RealTraffic tho).

The log file has one line for each aircraft in the area, saying that it could not be created. Maybe I didn't install the AI models in the right directory? I just installed the WOAI models in a folder called WOAI in P3D3/SimObjects/Airplanes

Thank'you

That's not right, you should tick Disable PSX traffic injection in RealTraffic.

You did not indeed, you should install WoAI aircraft in a separate folder ../SimObjects/WoAI
and do not forget to add an entry to that folder in the P3Dv3's simobjects.cfg file  (in C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\simobjects.cfg

Then run VMRGenerator's Pass1.exe to generate an AI_liveries.txt file

Hi Nico,
thanks for this great add on , it is a real treat to see all this traffic in real time rolling over the tarmac, landing and taking off.

there are some programs that handle ground services for FSX or P3D, nice to watch, but this is so much better.
together with real ATC and the flightradar24 app on my Ipad it looks like I am standing beside the runway, I have now a worldwide spotter place!
And flying amongst them is great fun, Thank you so much !

I know nothing of programming, and it might be a dumb remark, but
"Hessel came up with the idea to-optionally- let the landing aircraft stay (in the Scenery Generator) at the gate for say 45 minutes (Easyjet and Ryanair 25 minutes :-) ), instead of removing them when they are no longer in RealTraffics foreflight stream. "

I suspect that when they are injected from the RealTraffic foreflight stream they are positioned at the correct gate?
Can it not be done then that  whenever a new plane occupies a gate the old plane  automatically is been removed?
just a thought,
ivo

Hi,
Version 1.0.5 is available.

Bug in reading QNH from PSX (that had slipped in) fixed (resulting in better landings).
(note that PSXseeconTraffic is not dependent on the QNH in your Scenery Generator.)

Default maximum number of aircraft in your Scenery Generator changed into 50 ( and upper limit changed to 100).

Experimental: Added an option to Keep arriving aircraft parked for a while after they have disappeared from the RealTraffic Foreflight stream and they are (hopefully) at the gate.

B74X and A38X will be parked for 2 hours before disappearing; aircraft from EasyJet and Ryan Air will be parked for 35 minutes (they have a faster turn-around time), and the others for 1 hour.

This will lead to an airport with more (real) planes (!). Note this is experimental yet, have to find a way to detect whether they are really at the Gate when they disappear from Foreflight...

rgrds,
Nico

If you choose default for the livery filter, you get WoA_DJC_A320-200_CFM_AZA-Alitalia as livery instead.

Note: you definitely need more different liveries.

Hi, I found out that the only way to see liveries is to put folders like WoA_AIA_B737_W, WoA_AIA_B744_PW, WoA_AIA_B763_RR and all the other types directly in SimObjects\Airplanes and then let subfolders from different airlines merge there. The standard install of World of Airlines does not work.

Since it is quite a job, and I am not sure it is the right one, has anyone succedeed visualizing traffic in P3D3.1 using a better solution?

Thanks

No, that's not correct. You should put all your WoAI aircraft in a separate WoAI folder under SimObjects. You should use the WoAI installer (version 2.04) and select that folder as as Output folder.
It's indeed a lot of work, can't help that.

Make sure you have a path to WoAI in simobjects.cfg. Run VMRGenerator, copy the AI_Liveries.txt, and fly..

You should never put AI aircraft in the Airplanes folder. The airplanes folder is for "normal" aircaft such as PMDG, and so on. Aircraft that need much more cpu cycles to be shown in P3D.
Nico
P.S. there are also (payware) alternatives for WoAI.

Hi Peter,

No I have not, I'm sorry. I used to see that exception long time ago, but nowadays I can let run PSXseeconTraffic for hours without any problems.

Is there any clue in the PSXseeconTraffic.log file?

How are you using PSXseeconTraffic, at the same PC as P3D or remotely? I'm having P3Dv3 on one machine and PSX + PSXseeconTraffic + RealTraffic +VisualPSX on another.

Tomorrow I hope to release version 1.07, so if there are no clues you better try that one first.

Nico

Hi Nico,

It seems to happen if I have been using another program beforehand with simconnect, such as PSXAloft, or similar.
It also seems to happen if I pause the sim for any reason, which I suppose would make sense?
I will have a look in the log file next time it happens.
I am using PSXseeconTraffic remotely from the P3d Machine.
The only difference network-wise between your setup and mine is that I have VisualPSX on the P3D machine.

I look forward to version 7.

Thanks,

Peter, in you SimConnect.xml file, did you check PSXAloft / PSXseeconTraffic / VisualPSX do not share the same port ? It could lead to conflicts. Every add-on which connects to SimConnect must have its own port.

Just an idea.

No, it should not. RealTraffic will continue to read the PSX lat/lon and continues to produces a stream with nearby aircraft.
You do not even have to run VisualPSX to see traffic.

No, PSXseeconTraffic uses the same port as VisualPSX by design.  Max 64 clients can use that port and each client identifies itself with it's name, so it should not lead to conflicts. At least over here it does not.

The advantage of using the same port as VisualPSX is that people will have less trouble getting PSXseeconTraffic to work. Most of them already use VisualPSX so PSXseeconTraffic will run out of the box... Getting the AI aircraft installed is already a hurdle for a lot of people.

However,Peter, to be sure you could try JP's idea to see whether that solves your problem. So add another entry to simconnect.xml, with a different port and use that port number in the SimConnect.cfg file that's in the PSXseeconTraffic folder.

Nico

Bonjour Francois,

Thank you for your feedback. From the log I conclude that everything is ok.

I think that PSXseeconTraffic did not "hang at Corsica", but that there simply were no aircraft within range and fullfilling your height and livery filter settings. The message "Traffic detected and buffering ... "was presumably generated upon out of range traffic. This is wrong, I'll change that in the next version.

Regards,
Nico

With version 1.08 I have noticed an issue. When my plane is parked on ground, PSXseenconTraffic sometimes stops with the reason : "Warning: Repositioning occurred, PSXseeconTraffic will exit ..." which is not true

Well, that's strange, because I get that info from PSX, via Hardy's Qs122 variable StartPiBaHeAlVsTasYw .
It reads "if first digit is not 0, a repositioning has occured. "
?
If this happens more often, please let me know, then I might consider to make this test optional.

Hi Nico,

You can easily reproduce the issue. If you start for exemple from the pre-define situation : 01 Departure 001- Sidney - Los Angeles.situ and you switch off the beacon lwr, PSXseeconTraffic stops.

François
Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Thu, 4 Feb 2016 08:51
Francois,

That's caused by VisualPSX; it has some re-positioning "tricks" in which the beacon plays a role.
If you run PSXseeconTraffic without VisualPSX, you will notice that it remains rock stable...

This unlucky interaction is inconvenient, so I think I will remove my test on repositioning. Drawback being that PSXseeconTraffic might run into an exception situation (indicated at the bottom with a red message). You have to exit PSXseeconTraffic then manually (but only in real repositioning situation).

Hi Nico,

how about checking the distance that VisualPSX generates when jumping around the airport? I guess it's never greater than an airport area, say, 7 nm. So, if it's less than 7 nm, ignore the repositioning?

Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: Garry Richards on Fri, 5 Feb 2016 06:31
Hi Nico,

Turning the beacon off (provided that other conditions are met) places VisualPSX into lock mode. It then freezes the position of the FSX/P3D aircraft and moves PSX to that same position. The user may then also select a departure runway and PSX will move to that runway position and then back to the locked position. PSX will then move again so that the correct runway offset will be in place when it taxies to the threshold.

You might be able to detect the spurious relocation by comparing the positions of PSX and the FSX/P3D user aircraft. If PSX has relocated but the FSX/P3D aircraft has not moved then you could ignore the relocation.

Hope this helps. Cheers,

Post by: kiek on Fri, 5 Feb 2016 16:06
Hi Garry,

Thx for this idea, I should indeed do that.
However, the implementation is rather complicated while the user aircraft in the Scenery generator is not my concern, and I'd like to keep it that way.
Therefore,  for the time being I have removed my re-positioning detection. Without it, people can (implcitly) lock and unlock VisualPSX without "disturbing" PSXseeconTraffic, so the aircaft around you will not disappear.

It is only when one re-positions the PSX aircraft via the Instructor panel, that PSXseecon traffic runs into an exception mode, just like loading a new situ, something PSXseeconTraffic is able to detect via the load1 message.

Cheers,
Nico

Hi,
Version 1.1.2 is up, here are the release notes (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33414557/psxt/ReleaseNotes.pdf).

Bug fixed in the algorithm that injects aircraft in PSX. Up till now you could not have the Above-Below ranges -2700 ft to 7000ft and +2700 ft to -7000ft.  Now all aircaft within +/-7000 ft in height, and being in front of or not more than 5 nm behind your 744, are injected, with a maximum of 7. If there are more than 7, the closest ones in lat/lon distance have preference.

Again thank you for your addon. Just a question; is it normal when you have seven planes on the CDU TCAS page, that the last line is displayed with bigger letters and numbers.

Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Sun, 21 Feb 2016 07:55
Hi Francois,

Not only the last line, but every first line of an entry is in large font, every second line of an entry is in small font (see the manual).
Due to the fact that the CDU supports 13 lines, while I would need 14 lines, the second line of the seventh entry is not shown.

I'll put a note about that in the manual.

Nico

Hi Nico,

you can bypass the default font size rule and make the big lines small as well, if you like. Just attach a "-" at the end of the CDU text line string (24 characters text, 25th character = "-").

Hi Hardy,
Yes I know that.
For a clear layout I want to make a difference between the first and second line of data about an Airplane.
This is all by desgin (!)  ;)

EDIT: I'm considering to remove the word TCAS in the top line, than I have exactly 14 lines for the data ...

If you have seven planes displayed on the CDU you will see that the last line (for the seventh plane) is displayed with biggest letters than the first line of all the six other planes.

Hi Hardy,

"The scratchpad string length may be 0 to 24."

So I cannot use the last line with small font, I tried but if I add a '-' after the 24 characters, it shows an empty line.
:(

Can't you lift that restriction for the Scratchpad line?

The scratchpad is always big font. That's not part of a page text and cannot be changed. Sorry!

If you insist on the 7-line system, you could reverse the order and make the odd lines small, and the others big. That's the typical design anyway; the key select lines big, the others in between small. E.g. look at the LEGS pages: headings etc. small, names big.

Hi guys,

PSXseeconTraffic is no longer in public beta, stable version 2.0.0 is up.

Do note that the deployment policy of PSXseeconTraffic has changed. It is no longer packed with run-time libraries. In order to run it you have to have the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 installed. See the Release Notes. (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33414557/psxt/ReleaseNotes.pdf)

@Hardy: Could you please add PSXseeconTraffic to your Add-ons page, preferably after RealTraffic? Here is a text proposal:

PSXseeconTraffic by Nico Kaan
This Windows application injects AI aircraft in FSX/P3D, based on real time traffic data from the RealTraffic add-on.
It also injects the traffic that is in PSX's TCAS range into PSX.

Regards,
Nico

H Hardy,
Thank you.

However, the sentence : "The seven nearest aircraft are also injected into PSX (for TCAS etc.)." is not correct, I'm afraid.

PSXseeconTraffic only injects the traffic that is within PSX's TCAS range, so within 40nm and "complying" to the position of the Above-Below selector. The only  purpose is the TCAS, the PSX windshield is not relevant if you use a scenery generator (that's what you do when using PSXseeconTraffic).
So you can have, for example,  47 aircraft in the Scenery and 3 in PSX.

Note that PSXseeconTraffic always sends traffic, even if TCAS is off.

Cheers,
Nico

Hi Nico,

I meant to write "not more than seven". Would that be correct? I just wanted to keep the text short and simple.

By "etc." I also mean collisions in PSX, not just scenery effects.

I think I should also mention your special smoothing algorithm (not just "read and inject") ...

Thanks,

Indeed, I get data from RealTraffic every 9 seconds, PSXseeconTraffic generates 9*20 (fps)=180 in between positions: lat, lon, height, pitch and bank. And also the landing lights and handling of the Gear at take-off and landing is done by PSXseeconTraffic.

Nico

Great add-on,but not work on my computer?
the log like this:
Connecting to Scenery Generator ...
Connecting to PSX ...
PSX connected
Connected to Lockheed Martin?Prepar3D?v3
Starting SimConnect session and synchronising ...
Connecting to RealTraffic ForeFlight stream ...
RealTraffic ForeFlight socket connected
Buffering AI traffic ...

and then even 1 hour still aircraft 0 in both PSX or P3D,I don't know what's wrong :)

Check your file : Simobject.cfg.
Indeed, check that you have activated your AI aircaft in P3D:
C:\Program Data\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3\simobjects.cfg

See PSXseeconTraffic Manual section 3.1

And if that does not help, please post your complete log file.

I second that, Nico - it is really smooth now within the understandable limitations of the data.
It's good fun seeing the aircraft in real time - it brings the airport alive!
Thanks again.

Hi,
Version 3.5 is up.  Buffering time reduced from 40 to 20 seconds

The real life AI traffic is now only 20 seconds behind real-time. Almost good enough for using a  Live ATC (http://www.liveatc.net/) channel!?

Hi Nico, I used version 3.5 the other day on a departure from KJFK to EGPK and it was absolutely amazing listening to LiveATC and watching all the AI aircraft in front of me match the real world ATC.

Thank you for your very nice program! And congrats for 3.5, it works great!.

From the Manual Chapter 2:

"Updating to a new version is easy: just install the new version by unzipping and overwriting the files, except your SimConnect.cfg (if in use)."

So yes, just overwriting PSXseeconTraffic.exe will do the trick. If you also overwrite the other files, you are also up to date with respect to the SimilarTypes.txt file and the documentation.

Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Fri, 7 Oct 2016 22:33
Hi Peter,

Yes it is great sight, to see all these aircraft lining up for departure. Sometimes even eight or nine,  slowly driving and turning into the right taxi ways.

However, it's a pity that quite often some of these waiting aircraft suddenly disappear because there is no new position information in the Real traffic stream for more then 30 seconds. Then I have to remove the aircraft and when there are 3 new positions received you will see them pop up again.  This happens more often at Heathrow than at other airports. At EHAM for instance you can often follow an incoming aircraft to the gate and vice versa, while at Heathrow you hardly see that. Could that be because of different policies? Setting transponders off  or on?

If aircraft are airborne, they seldom disappear because of lack of position information, it is only at the ground.

Cheers,
Nico

Hi,
Version 4.6 is up:

Flaps control added. First only at the ground and at take-off, not (yet) when landing.

Landing Lights are always set to on on the ground; this to have some light in the dark while taxiing (most AI aircraft have no taxi lights). See also new Chapter 6 in the Manual about AI aircraft animations.

The algorithm for Pitch has been improved.

More precise taxiing, smallest possible displacements are now 13 meters instead of 26 meters.

Cheers,
Nico

Post by: Britjet on Sat, 15 Oct 2016 20:43
I think there is a transponder policy at Heathrow, or there used to be - to reduce the amount of ground interrogation going on.
Perhaps Triple7 can elaborate?

Hi guys,

Version 5.0 (public beta) is up.

•   Live/real time traffic for any user aircraft in FSX/P3D (!), so no longer only for PSX. You can switch PSXseeconTraffic between PSX mode and User Aircraft Mode (UAC).
•   Added a mechanism to park aircraft at parking positions at origin and destination airports.
•   Added a tool ParkPosGenerator that generates airport files with parking positions, preferred airlines and preferred aircraft types, for your airports.
•   Added information in the PSXseeconTraffic window about live airborne traffic in range of the user aircraft (PSX users: corresponding with the aircraft you see at the Navigational Displays).
•   Added collision detection at the ground between the user aircraft, live aircraft and parked aircraft.
•   The limited range function is changed into a limited vert(ical) range function
•   A new horizontal range limit function added that is active at the ground only.
•   The airlines only checkbox has been changed into a light aircraft checkbox.
•   A new "ufo" checkbox added.
•   Update frequency back to 40 times per second for every live aircraft.
•   Some errors in the RealTraffic stream fixed.
•   Manual updated.

Go to: http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseeconTraffic.html

Cheers,
Nico

Had to move (as per manual) the airports.txt to the "PARKED" map.

Sooooo cosy and busy !

I must be doing something wrong - For destination airport I select "change" and I get "new destination is empty" then press "change" again and get "type destination ICAO code".
I then type (e.g. LGAV) but nothing happens...

I was getting the same thing flying into CYYZ, I checked the manual and found this,, CYYZ is not in the folder, perhaps that is the case with LGAV?

5.13 Destination airport
This is the ICAO code of your destination airport, to be filled in manually. Push the change button and the field becomes editable. Enter an ICAO code and push the change button again to make it active. Information messages will give you feedback.
Only destinations that are present in your parked folder (section 6.2) are allowed.

That's because they were not in my Prepar3D installation. You should run ParkPosGenerator at your P3D PC to get the airport files that are specific for your installation. Please consult the manaul about how to do that.

Ok - will try it again. Should it work like that with any aircraft, default P3D and PSX?
Yes.

Quote from: Britjet on Mon, 13 Feb 2017 16:25
Also is it necessary to file a "flight plan' in P3D? I never do..
No

Hi Nico,

QuoteMake sure you have no other traffic programs running and put your traffic sliders in P3d at 0%

Thank you for your reply. As far as I am aware no conflicting programs are running.
Strange.

Are you sure both traffic sliders (Airline and General Aviation) are at 0?
You have uninstalled packages like MyTraffic and UT2 (and kept the AI liveries only)?
No vPilot or IVAP ...

Nico

Hi Nico
Still no joy, I'm afraid. I'll put together a video of the panel and send you the link later tomorrow.
Thanks for helping...

Absolutely sliders at 0 Never had My Traffic or UT2 installed  No Vpilot or IVAP.

In PD3 I cannot remove vehicle labels (if this is significant)  Now done.

I am wondering if the problem arises within my computer.

With 2 to 3 programs running my CPU is running at 100% and i wonder if it gives up the ghost and closes PSXSeeCon.

Interestingly with the latest installation of fibre to my home the promised 100mps has never been achieved. Investigation by my ISP said that it was as a result of the CPU being maxed out.

Just another thought!!!

Cheers
Derek

Hi Nico,    I have shifted your fine program to to the computer running PD3 to reduce demands on my PSX computer

This has helped a little .

However at the moment I have only 4  or five ANZ 744's absolutely dancing on the screen!!!

It seems as if the program is picking up my OpenSky 744!!

Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Tue, 14 Feb 2017 09:44
Hi Derek,

It looks like your AI liveries are not installed in a separate folder like SimObjects\WoAI but in Simobjects\airplanes.
That might be the reason that VRGenerator has also picked up your user flyable aircaft as AI aircraft.

You should move the WoAI aircraft to a separate folder, like Simobjects/WoAI. Dont forget to activate that folder in Simobjects.cfg.
Then run VMRGenerator again in order to get a better AI_liveries.txt.

Cpu usage should not be the problem, PSXseecontraffic does not need more than 1 % cpu time.

Cheers,
Nico

Hi Nico

As promised - any help much appreciated - it is probably a case of RTFM but I am trying hard!

Peter

A video of what I am getting with the destination airport selection:-It isn't clear in the video but I am typing in an ICAO code (eg EGKK or EGLL) each time it asks me to do so - but no text appears and I get no error message..

Hi Peter,

You must first put the cursor at the beginning of the dest airport box. The position is  in the same line just below the E of EGKK in your video. Then you can type 4 letters.

I will give that box another color, for guys like you ;-)

Thank you Nico for your reply.

I have always had WoAI in a separate folder, under sim objects.
Is it safe to remove the ANZ 744 from the AI_liveries.txt and see what happens?  ANZ does not have any more 744's sadly
Cheers
Derek

Oh yes, no problem. But even better is it to remove it from your WoAI liveries in P3D, otherwise next time you run VMRGenerator it will re-appear in AI_liveries.txt.

Nico

Hi Nico,

I changed the parameters (Minimum number of parking postions in an airport file: 8 and Percentage_parked= 50) in the ParkPosGenerator program. I run it and I have new airports in my file but the Percentage parked stays at 35.

Hey totally new a this...great program...I know there is a tool vPilot that can take the vmr (AI Matching Rules Generated.vmr) and I guess clean up the "rules" for vmr..for vatsim  ..I am referring to the invalid airline and aircraft rules..will that work if you don't use vatsim and just fly with real traffic offline. I don't know that I am making sense. I am using woai aircraft. or can you direct me to the right place.

Thank you,
Bob M.

Bob M,

Go to Nico's site and download both PSXseeconTraffic and VMRGenerator, then run VMRGenerator it will find your WoAI and create the file AI_liveries.txt. Copy that file to your PSXseeconTraffic folder. You will then be able to run PSXseeconTraffic and RealTraffic to show your live traffic.

Hope that helps, John

Nico,

Thanks for version 5.16, I am not getting the metar display when using PSX. I have the weather turned on in PSX. When I switch to P3D I do get the metar display?

John

Post by: kiek on Tue, 21 Mar 2017 10:29
Hi John,

The Metar is only available in User Aircraft Mode, not for PSX.
For PSX you can check the METAR yourself in the PSX interface.

I'll put a note in the Manual.

Nico

Hi Nico,

I was trying PSXseeconTraffic v5.38 with P3D v4, I updated my files using VMRGenerator and ParkPosGenerator. I was at EGLL with 78 'live traffic' showing however all the AI traffic is floating in the air with no landing gear visible. Is this a known issue with P3D v4?

Thanks John
Title: Re: RELEASED: Open beta of PSXseeconTraffic
Post by: kiek on Wed, 7 Jun 2017 13:00
Hi John,

P3D v4 no longer supports FS9 based AI aircraft. That's the reason (it is not a PSXseeconTraffic issue).
See http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31619 (http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/showthread.php?t=31619) in my PSXseeconTraffic forum.

FSPXAI and FAIP work fine. Commercial packages such as MyTraffic 6 and UT2 are being converted to P3D v4.

Nico

Orbx are also updating their traffic package to work with p3dv4. However it is freeware so may take a while to be updated.

They create FTX versions of your planes in your simobjects folder as well.

Title: Problem with PSXseeconTraffic v6.1
Post by: JohnH on Sat, 8 Jul 2017 18:21
Hi Nico,

I just installed the 6.1 update. I am running the latest version of P3Dv4 and the latest version of PSX.
When I run PSXseeconTraffic64X.exe I get the following error.

User aircraft title: Boeing 747-400 Air Canada - Old Livery

Error: User aircraft does not seem to be an aircraft

I have never received this error message before?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Hi Nico,

Version 6.2 has solved the error message

Error: User aircraft does not seem to be an aircraft

Thanks very much!

I did notice that if using PSX and running PSXseeconTraffic64X.exe with P3D v4 I was receiving an error when entering the destination airport, that airport not found.

I copied the 'parked' folder to the PSXseeconTraffic subfolder 'PSX' folder and that solved the error message.

Thanks again, John

Oh I see, that's a bug in the installer program, it should have put PSXseeconTraffic64X.exe in the PSXseeconTraffic folder, not in a subfolder PSX.

In the PSXseeconTraffic folder parked is already available as subfolder.

Will change that in 6.4

Thanks very much Nico - one request - I wonder if it is possible - "Tower View" is one location option in P3D instead of selecting a runway or gate. However, if this is selected SeeConTraffic reports "user aircraft does not appear to be an aircraft" and exits.

Would it be possible to make this work? It would be really cool to just watch the traffic from the Tower!

Also some hints on how t install them would be helpful.

Good freeware options are the FAIB http://fsxaibureau.com/ (http://fsxaibureau.com/)models,
also see Jürgen Baumbusch  his http://www.juergenbaumbusch.de/ (http://www.juergenbaumbusch.de/) site.
You have to install these aircrfat one by one, there is no package (I have about 500 ...)

Another very good option is FSPXAI http://www.ai-repaints.com/index.html (http://www.ai-repaints.com/index.html), some base models you have to buy at Simmarket, but there are hundreds of free liveries.

? If you select View, Change View, Tower, nearest Tower it should work.
In cameras.cfg you better change Track into none in order to make panning in tower view possible.

You could also define Custom camera views (I have 4 at different places at EHAM).

The "user aircraft does not appear to be an aircraft" message  is issued  if you select a non-aircraft as Vehicle. But I assume you fly a 744    ;-)

Kind regards,
Nico

Negative. It's Win 10 only.

Note that you can still upgrade to Win 10 without costs. Or run PSXseeconTraffic networked
from a Win10 Laptop.

Hi Nico,

Just installed v 9.9 thanks for the update. I am finding that the text for

Destination airport [ ]
and
PSX hostaddress [ ]

are overlapping each other, has anyone else reported this?

Am using PSX 10.14 and Windows 10

Thanks, John

Yes, that is my mistake. Since I no longer fly the PSX i tend to forget to check the UI of the PSX version of PSXseeconTraffic...

I am on holiday now, will bring an update around January 6.

In the mean time you could enter the hostaddress via the PSXseecontraffic.cfg file and the Destination indirectly via a flight plan. See the Manual about how to use a flight plan.

Nico

Hi Nico,

I don't wish to renew my RealTraffic license since the cost for 12 monthes has changed from 10$ to 72$. Is it possibe to add an option to use your program only to feed the visual scenary (FSX or P3D) with planes grounded at gates in the origin and destination airports and use in flight the native PSX traffic.

Regards
François

and use in flight the native PSX traffic.
What do you mean with native PSX traffic? From what source?

Nico

The traffic generated by PSX.

The traffic generated by PSX.
Oh I see.

No I'm sorry, that's not the purpose of my program.
My program is about real life traffic, world wide. You really need the RealTraffic app as source. 60 Euro a year is not expensive for what you get: all real time aircraft positions world wide. Do note that 60 Euro is a cost based price, the developer of RealTraffic has to pay for his data-sources and for the IT environment he hires in the cloud.

One of our competitors, Air Nav FS Live Traffic, charges 40 Dollar for 3 months and then you only get a segmen of the world ..

And my program PSXseeconTraffic is free, it took me 2 years to develop it ..

But it is ofcourse your decision whether you will continue or not.

Maybe a nice (yearly) birthday present? :-)

Hi,

I've made some small updates to the last version of PSXseeconTraffic for PSX, available at my website with version number 9.38.

Here are the release notes (http://www.lekseecon.nl/downloads/psxtx/ReleaseNotes.pdf).

I cannot test it myself so if someone can give me feedback if all is still well...

Regards,
Nico

Hi,
I don´t know if this topc is still open. But after updating to Win10 I try to get Realtraffic and PSXSeecon to run.
The message is : Bind failed.

What can be wrong ?

"Bind" sounds like a socket problem, i.e. something with the network. In many cases this means either the same thing is already running, or a security problem where the application isn't allowed by Windows to access the network it needs.

Wild guess.

Thank you dear Jeroen,
it should run on the same machine as PSX aynd realtraffic. And it is in the list at the firewall...
Do you have further ideas ?
Best

It could be that PSXEECON Traffic and WidePSX are using the same Simconnect Port and are blocking each other.

Best regards,
