I'm happy to announce the release of yet another add-on for PSX: psxseecon.
psxseecon connects PSX with the SIOC software of Opencockpits. It acts as a bridge between these two worlds.
1767 SIOC Variables, representing approximately 90% of the functionality of the PSX interface, are already available (more to come). These variables give access to states and controls of PSX.
psxseecon detects the PSX SIOC variables in your scripts automatically.
The version released (1.0.1) is an open beta. Please post your comments, questions and feedback in my psxseecon forum at MyCockpit.org (http://www.mycockpit.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=334)
More information about psxseecon, and information about where to download, can be found at my web site (http://www.lekseecon.nl/psxseecon.html)
EDIT March 27, 2018, we are at version 3.16 with 2220 variables.
regards,
Nico Kaan
Hi Nico,
ONE day earlier than announced on your website..... ! ;).
Many, many, many THANKS.
This will great opportunities as this interface to OpenCockpit Cards
(I know it from the Level-d LEKSEECON)
is nearly plug-and-play !

Congrats! Amazing job!
Hi Nico,
Thank you very much for this important piece of software, without it is not possible for me to interface PSX to my ( future) hardware cockpit .
Great job,
Ivo
Hi Nico,
Well done
I guess you will build a 747 now? ;)
Inspirational work. If you ever travel to Australia.
My sim door is open for yourself.

Great work Nico!
This will bring my OC MCP back to life...
Having been using your great software with the Level-D 767 & the iFly 737 :)
Thanks a lot!!

Hi,
could this also mean that my Precision Flight Controls console Cirrus II with serial interface can be connected with PSX via FSX/FSUIPC/SIOC? Works fine in FSX with all controls available via FSUIPC.

If you write a SIOC script that read/writes these FSUIPC offsets and transforms these to/from psxseecon SIOC variables, I'd think so, yes.
You do not need any Opencockpits hardware, SIOC will also run without.
Today I released PSXseecon version 1.1.0 with 1990 variables. This is the first official release; it's no longer a beta (thanks go to Jean-Philippe and Blake for testing).
Do note that the installation procedure has changed. It is now more like Aerowinx PSX, VisualPSX and TrafficPSX. No installer, no registry entries, just 6 files. Here are the Release Notes (http://www.lekseecon.nl/downloads/744/ReleaseNotes.pdf).
Cheers,
Nico
N.B. and I changed the name from psxseecon to PSXseecon (being member of the family ;) )
I love the simplicity with which PSXseekon work, but am having difficulty with the 7-seg displays. My homebuilt MCP works 100% with respect to rotaries, pushbuttons, switches and LEDs. However, I cannot get any correct value from the digit variables. For example, the heading variable (2033) only ever transmits the number 2730 decimal according to the SIOC IOCP Console.
Any tips as to what I have missed? All the digits check out perfectly when tested with the Controlador.exe
I've tried Nick's forum on MyCockpit, but my posts are not displaying.
Cheers,
Richard
Code below. The segment below is compiled along with 1_digit.txt
Var 2033 Static name McpWdoHdg
{
CALL &DecBCD3 &McpWdoHdg
&D_Hdg0 = &Digit0
&D_Hdg1 = &Digit1
&D_Hdg2 = &Digit2
}
Var 9300 name D_Hdg0 Link IOCARD_DISPLAY Device 0 Digit 0 Numbers 1
Var 9301 name D_Hdg1 Link IOCARD_DISPLAY Device 0 Digit 1 Numbers 1
Var 9302 name D_Hdg2 Link IOCARD_DISPLAY Device 0 Digit 2 Numbers 1

2730 decimal is AAA hexadecimal, or three blanks in PSXseecon.
Could it be that you have not checked Situation->Equipment>
MCP and displays LCD version?
Cheers,
Nico
P.S. I can see your post in my forum, so please continue over there, thx.
Thanks Nico.
You are, of course, correct. Thanks for this great piece of software. Everything works perfectly now.

Hi guys,
PSXseecon (http://www.lekseecon.nl/psxseecon.html) version 1.4.0 released, with CDU screen support:
You now no longer need a PSX instance for it.
Read more about it in the Manual, section 3.19.
Cheers,
Nico
Hi guys,
Just to let you know that version 3.0 is available for download at my site (http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseecon.html).
Please study the Release Notes (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33414557/psx/ReleaseNotes.pdf) carefully, because the deployment policy has changed.
Regards,
Nico
Does anyone know if it is possible to assign a physical key to change the CDU from L/C/R in live use rather than manually change CDU_L/CDU_C/CDU_R in PSXseecon.cfg.
I was hoping to emulate what I already have in software with PSX Remote on the Ipad, in that I can change the CDU live and without delay.
Thanks in advance.
Graham.
Hi Graham,
Yes that is possible with PSXseecon. I have a rotary switch
implemented for that. See the SIOC script in PSXcockpit.zip and or the PSXseecon Manual.
Nico
Hi,
Version 3.2 is available for download at my site. Here are the Release Notes (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33414557/psx/ReleaseNotes.pdf).
Nico
Hi Nico,
Just installed 3.2 clean and when I ran it it did not create PSXseecon.cfg even though I was also running SIOC 5.1 and PSX on the same machine. Is this now normal? The manual still states it will create the file on the first start up.
Cheers,
Alex B
Hi Alex,
No that's a bug. I will fix it in the next version.
Thank you for reporting.
Regards,
Nico
Thanks Nico,
You are making my cockpit build so much easier than I thought it would be.
Keep up the great work.
;)
Hi,
Version 3.3 is available for download at my site. Here are the Release Notes (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/33414557/psx/ReleaseNotes.pdf).
Nico
Thx Nico,
Will give it a try.
Cheers,
Alex
Hi,
In the latest version 3.5 (Sept 12, 2016) of the PSXseecon (http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseecon.html)package you will now also find a 64 bit version of PSXseecon. Recommended if you have a 64 bit Operating System (which most of us have these days).
Regards,
Nico
Great news Nico,
Will give it a try ASAP... :)
Hi Nico,
Just added some feedback on the ATC module in mycockpits forum.
Have an issue with the "d" digit not turning off.
Cheers,
Alex B
Hi Alex,
I've read your report at MyCockpit but when I wanted to reply the server was busy, so here a question for clarification:
Do you have the same problems with the 32 bit version? That would be interesting to know.
Cheers,
Nico
Oh and server is up again, I see...
Will reply here and then on both when I have tested...
Will probably be able to let you know later today...
It is the first time I have had the ATC unit do anything, as I am just to lazy to plug all my units in at once:)
Cheers,
AlexB
Hi Nico,
Can confirm 32 bit also the same.
Will try an earlier version as this is the first time with the OC ATC module. I will build my own based on the one in PSX so it all matches up. :)
Cheers,
Alex B
Hi Nico,
I have tried with 3.2, 2.0.8 and 2.0.4, 3.2 gives the same as 3.5, but 2.0.8 and 2.0.4 show -993 on screen and d comes on when either knob is rotated but the code does not change. When I switch xpndr toggle the display on PSX blanks then goes back to original code (when aircraft powered up.).
I have attached my modified xpdr.txt file in the post at Mycockpits forum as I do not know how to attach it here.
Cheers,
Alex B

Oh good, that's
reassuring!, so the compiler has not made a mistake while compiling my sources for 64 bit. ;-)
I'll comment on your SIOC source in my mycockpit.org thread.
Note it's no good to use older versions of PSXseecon, please use the latest one. I have improved the variables for the XPDR a few months ago (May 24, 2016), see the Release Notes.
Nico
Hi Nico,
I hadn't updated PSXseecon in a long time and took the jump last night to v3.7.
I'm thrilled about the acceleration function you now provide when turning the HDG and ALT knobs on the MCP for example.
I used to think the opencockpits hardware was at fault and was getting annoyed to turn these knobs forever...
So much more like real life now! :D
Thanks!! I owe you a beer (or several) if we ever meet!

That's noted :).
I'm sorry to hear that now, I was in Brussels Oct 2nd and October 4th ...

Give me a shout a few days ahead next time you'll be driving south... we'll arrange something! ;)
Hi guys,
I've just released the (final) PSXseecon version 3.15.
I've added 10 new Qi variables too (Qi248 .. Qi 257).
Do note it is a 64 bits version (I no longer support 32 bits).
You can find the links to the software and documentation in a pdf named "Introduction to PSXseecon" at the main page of my site, under PSXseecon.
Cheers,
Nico
Nico,
Thank you for your time and effort. I still think it is a shame that further dev will not happen although I can understand the amount of time that went into this amazing piece of software, especially if you are no longer personally using it.
Best wishes as always,
Alex B
Hi,
Just a minor question about the OC COMM module. When I turn the inner knob clockwise the figures go down. Is this normal? Turning the outer knob clockwise the figures go up. I'm using the latest version of PSXSeecon 3.15 but the latest SIOC version on the OC website seems to be 50B5. Is this higher than 5.1? It's not a big problem. I'm just curious.

Hi Phil,
You can change that by defining a parameter in the PSXseecon.cfg file. See the Manual section 3.3
Nico
51B2 is later than 50B5. I have both and there are a few fixes in 51B2..

Hi guys,
Blake asked me kindly to add some variables to PSXseecon, so here it is, version 3.16 of PSXseecon (64 bit only).
Download it from my re-installed web page about PSXseecon (http://www.lekseecon.nl/PSXseecon.html).
Here a link to the Release Notes (http://www.lekseecon.nl/downloads/psx/ReleaseNotes.pdf)

Hi Alex,
If you need more variables, just ask, the program is still hot from all the edits ;-)
Nico
No worries. My build is moving along as I have access to a 3d printer for a while so all the korries are being done now... I also have made blanks for the knobs and will be casting them in resin with embedded LEDs to allow for backlighting...
Panels will be assembled as I have the bits needed to complete them so all going well at present.... Still need to find an .stl or 3d file for a speed brake handle but could make one from photos I suppose :)
Cheers,
Alex B
Hi Nico,
I was using one rotary encoder for the RCP. It was running good but You have changed your code and now you are using two rotary encoders.
Could you modify your sotfware to run the RCP with only one rotary encoder, as it was in the previous version?
(the old version of 5_RCP_L.txt does not run anymore)
Best Regards,
Thierry

No I'm sorry, I have no simulator hardware anymore. Cannot test scripts.
Maybe somebody else can step in.
I support the PSXseecon software only.
Kind regards,
Nico
Hi Nico,
I spoke about PSXseecon. the script you wrote worked with a previous version of PSXseecon.

No PSXseecon is the software that connects SIOC with PSX. You are talking about a SIOC script ...
There is nothing that has to be changed in PSXseecon for you, or someone else, to write the right RCP script.
Regards,
Nico
Nico is correct Theirry. The script should run exactly as it did previously. Adding extra values into PSXseecon will not change the way the script runs unless the script already has those values within it.
I would use the SIOC monitor and check that your device is sending the correct info to SIOC then analyse the script values to see what is happening.
I have been using PSXseecon for quite a while and all scripts (except those I have modified to suit my own hardware) still work as they did.

Alex B
