Hello

Can i ask who is using fsbuild 2.4 to convert flightplans to ps1.3 and if so how is it.

I prefer this software for several years in conjunction with PS1.3 . The only thing I can say is that it is worth every penny. Airacs in FSBuild are updated every month via Navigraph updates.

It imports flightplans in the correct format to PS1. If you wish also with all the real world SIDS and STARS, creation is done with ( realistic ) half-circle-methode.

The best thing is that Navpoints unknown by PS1 are converted by coordinates and renamed by their real names in the PS1 flightplan so that you have always actual flightplans useable and visible in PS1, actual by airac.

Also NAT-Tracks can be done, it loads the correct tracks day-actual from the net at beginning, if you wish.

I'm very happy with it, don't want to miss it. Interface is a little bit out of date but very good.

I can recommend it.

Hello Andre

I tried fsbuild2.4 but give me false coordinates W00000.0 E00000.0 thats what i get for every waypoints 2.3 works fine but seems to be errors in .4 did u ever experience this?

Good day Fly744F,
yes, same here. Was forced to switch back after the last update, so now I'm using version 2.3 again and without problems.

But what I've read so far is that the update has added some extra output file variations for FSX and some new addons only. So no need to use the x.4 update of FSbuild in relation to PS1...

Good day Fly744F,
Was very interested in your recommendation of FSBuild and thus purchased a copy.
Certainly works very well but I have struck a problem.  (is anybody surprised!).

The flight plan transfers to PS1 with .rou and .via and the waypoints are listed on the FMC but do not show on the nav display and no magenta line shows.
Can you give me some guidance on solving this problem.

Thanks

Derek

Hello Again.  I have found that the pln mode shows the route whilst the map mode is completely devoid of a magenta line and waypoints.
Hope this helps.

Hello,
sorry for barging in, but I'd like to mention that I have never seen this problem in any PS1 plans made with FSB (version 2.3 though!)
(And even if the plan is actually for another sim, I still always make a PS1 plan, too, as it is so convenient for quick visual display in Routplan :D )

Derek, if you can give the desired route here (just the one line in "KDEP - UM123 - ABC - UV567 - ZXY - KARR" format), I'll gladly create the plan in FSB 2.3 for you and make it available, so that you can see if it makes a difference. I am sure we can sort the issue out.

Cheers,
Martin

Hello to everyone,
sorry for my late reply but was on travel.

As Martin said before, I also didnt recognize such a problem with FSbuild 2.3 in PS1. Plan-display is ok with FSbuild generated plans.

Thank you for your replies Gentlemen,

I am having an extended play around with FSBuild 2.4.0.18 using EGLL KORD as my exercise.  I am finding that the first waypoint is not appearing on the ND because it says that it is 3024nm distance!!!! (In this case CPT) and  there are several odd waypoints appearing in my legs page which would take me all over the place

I would appreciate if you would enter the route below obtained from SimRoutes and see what happens  with earlier versions of FSBuild.

EGLL CPT3G CPT UL9 STU UL9 SLANY WTP CRN 5416N 5525N 5634N 5543N 5451N JC AR23 YR J564 PN J553 YYY J579 VBS J542 YVO J551 YVV ASP.PAITN1 KORD

I seem to recall from many years ago that before one started a new route in PS1 it was important to start the program  an exact ini file with many waypoints to establish a base and the set up a new routing, but this may be in my imagination. If somebody has such an ini file I would appreciate a copy.

Am I correct in assuming that when a waypoint is not in the PS1 data base that it will be inserted automatically?

In any case I will continue plugging along

With much appreciation for your help

Hello Derek,

behind this link you can find a ZIP file with the output from my FS Build v. 2.3.7.5.1 for your flightplan. It could be loaded into PS1 without problems.

The package contains:
¤   *.rou and *.via files as created by FSB
¤   the navlog from FSB (1)
¤   screenshots of the route in Routplan
¤   a screenshot from (Win)PS1 with the plan loaded
¤   a PS1 situation file at EGLL with the plan loaded already (2)
¤   a text file with my email address (3)

Notes

(1) Ignore weight, performance, and weather factors, they don't make much
sense. The navlog is mainly for checking co-ordinates if you so wish.

(2) Careful with this one. The first three times when I loaded this situation,
      PS1 crashed (without error message).
The fourth time it worked however perfectly OK.

(3) Perhaps you'd like to send me your problematic *.via and *.rou files
as created with FSB 2.4 so that I could compare them side by side.

Have fun!
Martin

PS. To create the EGLL situation, I started with a "dark & cold" situation from elsewhere (with no flightplan loaded yet), then moved the plane to EGLL and took it from there.
So no attention paid to any special INI file with many waypoints already.
(Perhaps this explains the three crashes I had when loading the newly created situation?)

Thank you for your reply Martin, and for the file which I have downloaded.

I have not as yet loaded the files to PS1, but I have no doubt that they will work.  I will report futher on this.

My thinking at the moment is that I have the latest release of FSBuild and it is not responding in the same way as earlier versions.

When the flight plan is ported to PS1 it shows up as the first waypoint being 3200nm's away, and deleting this waypoint shifts the 3200nm's to the next waypoint!!!!

However the transfer of the the data to FS9 and Flight Commander is relayed accurately.

I think I will ask the question on the FSBuild forum and I will let you know their response

Thanks for your help.

I will continue to be in touch

Cheers

Greetings!

For the record, and for the benefit of future web searchers:

Derek and I have worked some more on this issue.
The result was that FS Build v.2.4.0.18 indeed generates faulty flightplans for PS1.
The issue was narrowed down a bit and then reported to Ernie Alston (the author of FSB).

Ernie has now created an update (v.2.4.0.19); this generates flightplans which PS1 and Routplan will now happily digest again.
(The root cause of the snag apparently was a change in the navdata format.)

The download link to this update (not a full version; it has to be installed on top of an existing FSB) can be found in this announcement thread on the FSB forum (read the very first message in the thread). Note that by now v.2.4.0.18 is the one you'll get on purchase, it's no longer a "pre-release".

So, FS Build can now again be whole-heartedly recommended also for PS1 pilots. If you don't know it yet, have a look the FSB website.

Cheers,
Martin

Hi All,
Martin is too kind.  He did all the work and the correspondence with the author of the program.
With his technical background (which I lacked) he could present the necessary information to Ernie Alstom and hey presto the problem is solved and the PS1 "via" and "rou"  files  are now correct.
The greatest advantage of this flight planning program is that it sends matching plans to other programs such as Flight Commander,Squawkbox,PMDG and draws weather from Active Sky and/or SimWx,
Yet another time where the PS1 community pulls together

Hi Guys,

I can't get the thing going for love nor money. Bought it the other day and all of my PS1 plans thus far are not working. All of the logs and lats for the waypoints are coming up as N00.0000 etc.

I updated with the patch in the mentioned forum but im still getting bogus flight plans. Any ideas?

Uhmm.

Joe, you did install the special update v.2.0.4.19 for PS1 pilots which we wheedled out of Ernie, as reported two messages up from yours (#12) ??

Sorry, I missed your last sentence... 8)
(Those strange coordinates sounded exactly like the pre-update bug.)
But you are sure you are using v.2.0.4.19 ?

If so, let's do the dance again. For starters, what routing are you trying to plan?
(I'd like to see if I can handle it with my FSB setup. Then we can compare notes further.)

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I did indeed download and install the file attached to the link with version 2.0.4.19. However when i went to install it and in the actual program it says its only .18.

The installer i downloaded says 19 in the file name but when it actaully installs it says its only .18 in the software and dialogue boxes.

Would you happen to have a copy, or knpow where i can obtain a copy of the .19 update?

I tried a whole bunch of plans. Even exporting ones that were already saved in the software - same result for all.

many thanks.

-Joe

Hello Joe,

Quote from: Joe CorriganThe installer i downloaded says 19 in the file name but when it actually installs it says its only .18 in the software and dialogue boxes.
It's possible that the version number wasn't updated everywhere in the installation messages, but in Help > About it definitely should say "Version 2.4.0.19, Build 268", and the FSB window title should read "FSBUILD 2.4.0.19" (I just double-checked).

Please confirm that you see that; I still have a feeling you didn't really get the update in place, especially as not even the stored plans from FSB seem to work for you. (And you did install the 2.4.0.19 update on top of your existing 2.4.0.18 installation, yes?)

Then please download this file; it contains the PS1 flightplan (made still by the older FSB v. 2.3 and thus OK) for the route with which Derek had problems (see message #9 above), and also a small text file with my email address.

Please send me an email with the (broken) plans which your FSB generated, and I'll have a look. (You might want to try Derek's EGLL-KORD route, then I can make a direct comparison as I know already how it was broken by the unpatched v.2.4.0.18 )

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

I can confirm that I have downloaded and isntalled both .18 then .19, However my about page still says 2.4.0.18 build 267.

Does any out there have a copy of the update file that they used thjat worked sucuessfully?

-Joe

Moi,
Quote from: Joe Corriganmy about page still says 2.4.0.18 build 267.
...which means you are not really using.19 yet.    :|

Quote from: Joe CorriganDoes any out there have a copy of the update file that they used that worked successfully?
Try here.

Ah, one other thing I just remembered, check this first (I don't think the updater file is broken):

Could it be that the update has been installed not into the proper FSB folder,
+--+--FSBuild
      +--Aircraft
      +--...

but has erroneously created a new subfolder
also called FSBuild
+--+--FSBuild
      +--Aircraft
      +--...
      +--FSBuild      <---- created by .19 Update
         +--Aircraft
         +--...
      +--...

?
(I seem to remember vaguely to have seen something like that when updating.)

In which case you would simply have to move the files from the subfolder to the proper (parent) folder (and their respective subfolders), overwriting the old files (perhaps after making a backup first...)

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes.

Cheers,
Martin
