Seems my email account is emailing everybody including myself a single link for medicines: Amy ideas on how to rid it I have an anti virus thing but that seems to be of no help

thanks

Perhaps if your AV software is not finding it, and the virus is in your e-mail software, you might try backing-up your e-mail data files, then uninstalling/reinstalling the software.

No promises!
Cheers, Richard

It may not have anything to do with you, it may just be  'spoofing'; a spam engine using your address as the 'from' for it's email

I agree with John: just forget about this. It is extremely easy to send mail around coming from obama@whitehouse.gov and it has absolutely nothing to do with 'his account'.

I can post a thousand letters coming from Queen Beatrix as well.

I'd run a freeware downloadable Kaspersky or equivalent thorough malware check, just to ensure the trojan is not on your machine.

Of course he should run protective/scanning software, but not just because of this specific case of mail address abuse. Most malware goes a very long way to make sure it does not attract attention to the rightful owners of the machines the malware runs on.

i was once the victim of spoof email... my isp told me not much can be done, sit it out and will clear in a week or so- until they move onto the next victim...

Most normal spam filters have good ways of weeding out the trash for you. I receive about 95% spam and see less than one message per week come through, with no false hits (missed real messages).

Trying to protect your email address won't work. As soon as somebody gets a message from you, and they use Outlook, you are in their address book. In comes the virus, and fetches his whole address book. Hey, presto.
