Stab trim Gauge

Hi Hardy,
I would like to make a gauge (Stab Trim Indication Windows). I can use Qi119 for the white band but what's the value for the green band?

Hi, the green bands don't vary their length; they are just on or off. Here's the description from the network documentation:

Qi226 is a bitmask:
Bit 0001: L indicator powered
Bit 0002: R indicator powered
Bit 0004: Greenband nose down illuminated
Bit 0008: Greenband nose up illuminated

The OFF flag appears when the respective indicator is unpowered. The OFF flag is part of the white-black tape. The tape rolls beyond the nose down limit at which the tape starts to be black, and then a bit further and the orange OFF flag rolls in at the other end of the glass.

Just talking about trim indicators today....I wonder would a video solution via PC graphics be easier and cheaper to implement.

Hi,

The easiest and most realistic solution is actually to use the software gauge directly on your existing screen.

You can simply move the STAB TRIM gauge window onto your secondary EICAS display, similar to how the Boeing 747-8 uses its EICAS display for system information.
(modify the size as needed, esc to quit)

This avoids adding extra hardware and gives you a much cleaner setup.

If you prefer a physical cockpit solution, a small 3.5" HDMI screen can also be used, just drag the gauge inside.

Thanks for sharing your solutions Thierry, my thought was to do exactly as you describe. Curious as to what the function of the exe file is that is available in the second link of your last post?

stab7.exe is a gauge that you can put everywhere on the dispay (for example, I putted it in the lower EICAS)

How interesting, thanks Thierry, with your permission I will give it a try. My plan was to use PSX layouts to do the additional screen with trim indicator. Your lower EICAS superimposition is very appealing and yes somewhat simpler in terms of hardware.
