After a week i have returned to PSX aftr crashing and burning on Landing   #$%$##@
since I have not been able to load the  base program as it has locked up.
the screen is showing and flashing  "fatal damage"
In the top left corner shows "pause" and alternates  with a red " x0.25".
Usually the P key settles things down but no longer will the computer or prrogram
 respond to the command,
Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers

Pause means you're paused, and when it's alternating with "x0.25", that means you have time acceleration set to 0.25. You can fix both of these on the Situation > Time page: Uncheck the "Session freeze" boxes. Then move the "Time acceleration" slider to 1.

Then load another situation file, one that doesn't have fatal damage, and you should be good to go.

Hi Derek,

does your computer not respond to any keypress?

Can you open the Instructor window with the ESC key?

To get fully released from the fatal damage situation you need to press P to unpause AND to press M to unfreeze the motion.

The motion freeze is set so that you can analyse the aircraft's attitude, velocities and system status exactly in the moment of the crash. The pause mode just keeps the screen black.

Hello to Will and Hardy,
Thank you for your replies
With the advice given by  Will I am back to nomal   BUT
The keyboard is not responding and because of this my throttles and keys on my
CH Throttle Quadrant are not responding. the esc key is not responding
Sorry further advice is needed.
Cheers
Derek

Is the keyboard connected to the CDU? Try pushing (and releasing) left shift, and try your keyboard throttles. If that doesn't fix it, try pushing (and releasing) right shift.

The ESC key always opens the Instructor even if the CDU keyboard mode is active.

Derek, does your keyboard work in other programs like Wordpad etc.? Did you type your forum message on the same computer where your PSX is installed?

Hi Will and Hardy

DU
I   have three keybords on my desk all doing sstirling service for many years!!!!!!!
Wonders of wonders ,the replcement of batteries on all three resulted in PSX performing near perfectly
The only thing not working is the ESC key pulling up instructor panel from the task board. In fact not a problem for  my setup

Just as an aside i was flying the other day when the cabin altitude was reading red ,sound warning and increasing.
I discovered I should have turned back immediately, as P in C  has no means of fixing this problem.

Thank you gentlemen for your advice .I am a happy lad again

My wild guess about the Esc key not doing what you want it to do in that specific context, is that PSX does not have keyboard focus. Windows will not direct normal keystrokes to applications that don't have the focus.

I have had some instances when using a single PC, where the Esc key does not bring the instructor screen to the front, usually if I have minimised the instructor screen. I have to use the taskbar to click on the "instructor screen" icon to restore it or use Alt+Tab.

Ah, that sounds like PSX does not know the Instructor panel has been minimized. This may hold a clue.

Thank you gentlemen for yor replies.

The problem is now corected.

I think i have  re synked the ESC key by "fiddling : with using the mouse key to
open and close the instructor panel.

Funny things these computers!!
