Dutch voice ATC PS1

Can I rename the folder to "Ton"? There may be more Dutch speakers, so the folders need to have individual names.

I also added two more folders that play Ton's voice faster with a higher pitch that makes it sound female, and a lower voice at lower speed. These two ficticious speakers also need names and I would suggest Dutch names starting with "T" so that they can be associated with "Ton". E.g. Tess or Tara or Tine for the female, and for the lower voice maybe Teun, for instance ...

P.S.: The additional folders don't contain audio files. They contain just one empty file whose file name determines which folder is to be played at what speed. E.g. the file name "115 Dutch" commands the audio files in the folder "Dutch" to be played at 115 % of the original speed.

I would suggest to set up these folders:

Tess (commands Ton playback at 115 % speed)
Teun (commands Ton playback at 85 % speed)
Ton (contains all files and plays normal)

Fine by me ! And I vote Tanja aswell, Tineke is also a popular Dutch name.

Bog hove. But my father told me that the pronunciation is with a K instead of a G. :-) Some relatives write their names as Bokhoven.

Hardy, as a German, do you pronounce the H, or is it silent or almost silent? To my ears, English speakers tend to over-emphasize the H but perhaps that is correct.

Good question. I guess it depends on the tempo. Slowly spoken, I pronounce the H at a medium volume. Fast spoken, the preceeding T alone makes so much hiss (during its cymbal-like fade-out) that this hiss can be considered an H, actually :-) The T blends into the H anyway. There's no pause in between. This wouldn't work if his name were Beedhoven. After a D you'd have to pronounce the H louder :-)

Thanks, Hardy, that's a very clear explanation and how I imagine the name being said. Its pronunciation is anglicised here (which is normal and absolutely fine of course) but the over-aspirated H makes it sound (to me) more like a cleaning product than probably the greatest composer who ever lived.

Unzip TonATC, then copy the folders Ton, Teun, and Tanja to Aerowinx/Audio/ATC/ and restart PSX. They will be selectable on the Instructor's ATC and ATIS pages. Ton is the original voice, Teun plays Ton's sound files slower and lower, Tanja faster and higher.

Sorry for continuing off thread, but it's a good question and I'm embarrassed to admit to neither of the above: I omit the D completely which is probably lazy and totally wrong (so it sounds almost like "forshack") - that'll teach me to criticise others' Beethoven pronunciation :-)

Ah, right, in English you guys omit the first consonant in words that start with two, like "nife" for knife or "sycho" for psycho etc. Maybe Dvořák even liked it to be called "Forshack" during his stay in the "New World" :-)
