This is why the 1000 ms (which comes from a clock of some sort, not from PSX counting events) may be off a bit. Especially if on ARM (sans sound) the reported performance is spot on.

It all depends on how the 1000 ms information gets to PSX. And, of course, whether PSX gets the sleep it asks for. If there is a consistent 2 ms extra sleep because the Intel simulator also needs to wait on the ARM to honour its request, you get there. As Hardy said, as long as it is smooth and steady, it's fine.

Yes...I wasn't considering the translation layer. I figured it would work like a VM rather than an emulator. I need to learn more about Rosetta.

It's definitely slower to load via Rosetta for sure (still faster than my PC, but much slower than native Java). Native PSX loads in about a second. Rosetta takes about 3 seconds.

Hi

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help advise re Apple Silicon.  I have Just purchased a Mac M4 running Mac OS 15.3.1

I had possibly foolishly tried to to install Java JDK 32.

Now having trouble uninstalling it.

Further to that I was wondering if anyone had PSX up and running on M series chips with operating system MAC OS 15.3.1?

Thank you

Tony

Hi Panosl

Thanks for the info.

May I ask I take it, that is fully operational with Sound?

Also may I ask what version of Java running and how did you install it?

This is present version of Java that seem unable to uninstall

java version "23.0.2" 2025-01-21
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 23.0.2+7-58)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.0.2+7-58, mixed mode, sharing)

If have any advice would be much appreciated

Thank you

Hi Flyitlikeyoustoleit.

Thanks for the help.  Not quite there yet.  However maybe some progress.

I seem to have uninstalled all version Java then installed the intel version of Java 8 I believe. (as it was the java that I used on an Intel Mac).

I try open the Aerowinx start file.  However it is now telling me I need additional sound files installed.

I am sure it must be something simple I am missing.

If able to provide any thoughts would be great.

I have also tried going to terminal application and clicked the open with Rosetta then opened it didn't get any prompt.  So not sure if this means Rosetta 2 is already installed...?

So not sure if this is the problem or not.

Is there somewhere I have to manually download Rosetta 2?  Or should it be installed in terminal already as it's not trying to install it?

Thanks again

Tony
