Anti-ice switches

What is the normal procedure for anti-ice switches when the "auto" mode is available? Are they ever switched OFF, like maybe when parking, or are they kept in AUTO forever unless some kind of special circumstance arises?

Also, what percentage of 747s have the "auto" mode available?

Regarding the latter question: I think, Martin's "Pamela" add-on can answer it:

:-) Thanks for reminding me about PAMELA! With Steve's model files, that can indeed answer the question.

Just checked. No, it can't. Anti-ice is not on the list :-)

While we're at the "search" function ...

PSX model files contain NAI and WAI configs:

CfgNaiAuto=1
CfgWaiAuto=1

"1" means "with auto".

I tried to use the search function in the Mac's Finder, but it doesn't find anything in model files. I now see I need to rename all model files to txt files.

Does MacOS have a "grep" command?

Will,

On our three Boeing fleets, they remain in AUTO when not in use, unless directed otherwise by a non-normal procedure.

Best regards,

Mariano

Our Auto Nacelle Anti-ice switches were set to AUTO during preflight, set to "as needed" after engine start and back to AUTO during climb.

Will

Thanks, everyone. That's helpful.
