Hi Hardy,

Recently I am seeing large SIGMET areas depicted on the Instructor/Situation/Position map. After deletion of all other SIGMET areas, three remain visible as seen on this screenshot:

The SIGMET messages that go with these areas are:

For the very large area - covering North and South America - it turns out that removing either the first or the second SIGMET message, removes that area. The combination of the two produces the area, and a turbulent ride within it.

The area in Central America is generated by the third SIGMET message.

The first three messages all relate to a line with a specified width, could this somehow cause the drawing of large areas? The given co-ordinates certainly do not match with the depicted areas...

The area east of Africa is remarkable as well: it stretches well beyond the Jeddah FIR.

Is this something that you can look into, or is this an inevitable consequence of downloading SIGMETS?

Kind regards,
Simon

Hi Simon,

I guess the problem lies in the WSMX31 block which doesn't end with a "=" sign. So the PSX text scanner thinks the next block belongs to the current block.

It's been a few years, but I think a block should always end with a "=" sign and I don't think I can use any other textual hint for the end without risking side effects that would be even worse.

I use the Sigmets generated by SimBrief for my route.  The Sigmets are located in the Briefing Preview along with the winds aloft.  An example that I used today -

SIGMETs:
