Monitor advice

Hi,

I am seeking some advice and guidance on what forum members regard as the best monitor setup for PSX and MSFS2020.

My current setup is PSX and P3D and is configured as follows:

PC1 - Captain's side who is always PF – 2 x 19" monitors stacked one above the other, lower is PSX and upper is P3D. (PC1 runs PSX server, P3D and PSX.Net.ExternalSim)

PC2 – FO's side who is PNF – 1 x 19" monitor. (PC2 runs PSX client).

iPad – PSX CDU

I have some money to invest, and that is the right word, in my PSX setup for MSFS2020 and a new monitor (or two).  I've not managed to get PSX and P3D to share the same monitor satisfactorily which is why I've previously gone with the two monitor setup for PF.

I would be happy to change that particularly having seen 18hazelwood's videos of his PSX, MFS2020 and WidePSX setup.

The only provisos in my future setup is that PC1 must also serve as a general PC for office, email, family browsing etc and cannot occupy space beyond a standard desk space.

I'd appreciate any guidance.

Many thanks,
Adrian

Hi Adrian,

The monitor (TV) I am using is a 55" QLed TV running at 2K resolution.
I also have attached a 19" monitor for weather /mapping etc.
The 55" displays PSX and MSFS2020 in a split screen configuration.
MSFS2020 does not support multi monitor at this time as far as I am aware, hence I am using a split screen configuration
One pc is running everything,
i7 7700k processor
RTX 2070 graphics card
32 GB Ram
All running on SD Drives.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for your comments on the video...

I have four PC's running my sim. One High end runs either P3D, X-Plane11 of MSFS 2020 (depending on how I feel)

I then use the other PC's to run PSX (one provides the screens in my cockpit, PFD/ND for both pilots via Dual Head 2 Go, and 2 CDU's, another the EICAS screens, and OC interface and the third provides instructor screen and is the main server for the other 2...This is also my home/business PC so hence no sim screens.)

The scenery PC has a 55" Plasma TV running 1920x1080 via HDMI... (I got the TV for free so not going to go further at this time :) )
I use a variety of scenery bridges... XView, Visual PSX and WidePSX... all give great results.
Even though MSFS 2020 does not support multiple screens yet, I have two more 24" monitors set aside for side window views when they become available in MSFS2020... they already work for P3D and X-Plane11

Thanks very much for information.  A similar setup PSX/MSFS2020 is possible on PC1 and I've managed to source a large TV temporarily from my son so I'd like to try and duplicate your configuration 18hazelwood.

Please could you share in the simplest terms how you have the PSX and MSFS2020 views configured (scaling, borders etc) so I can copy.  Also any chance  you could post your layout.pack too.  As I get older I increasingly miss or forget little details particularly after a season on the allotment and in the garden and away from PSX.  Very frustrating but I'll slowly pick it up again as the northern autumn and winter progresses.

Thanks again,
Adrian
