The idiocracy (if that's a word) when doing nightflying in Europe, is that a tailwind is as bad as a headwind. According to Europe, we should put a ban on any kind of wind as it creates terrible noise-pollution.

Yep, nighttime slots in Europe will make you hold for two hours before you can land. Even last week we were cruising along nicely at M0.65 (to cope with the tailwind on a... 1 hour flight) only to be requested by Munich arrival to "stay on the downwind, call when ready to land on schedule. We were still 4 minutes to early. Yes Munich is 24 hours open, our landing slot is simply that time. Nothing more. Noise restrictions.

Problem gets worse every year. And so we pollute in the name of silence. Cause we can't wake up people before they inhale the extra pollution.

I'd better stop ranting, but I'm still wondering about the idiocracy behind it.
