Just wondering on the upper EICAS, the mode goes to TOGA for a quick second just before touchdown ?

Also is it Airbus procedure to FD off when auto flight off ?

I was recently talking to some Bus pilots about landing and they said when they switch autoflight off that they always switch autothrottle off too. They added it was more fun (almost like a Boeing  :))

Above are just to pose as questions, should anyone wish to comment.

Thanks

Carl

Carl,

one of the aircraft I have "jumpseated" more is the A32x, and indeed I've seen A/T being switched off on 90% of the situations just before the FAF ! the same applying of course to "manual flying" - which never really happens in an Airbus until 30' AGL during landing :-)

The guy recording these videos is an A320 captain - Lufthansa I believe - and he is also an admirer of the recently released FSLabs A320 for FSX.

Another one from FSLabs A320 ( real A320 captain flying, the "Britjet" of FSLabs A320...), apparently the closest FSX World can get to PSX, but still... far, I believe...

I just merged your FSLabs A320 threads to one thread, jcomm. Please don't start multiple threads, and keep in mind that this is a 744 forum. And the Pit subforum is not about aviation.

Thanks :-)

Some carriers have the policy, that you have to use all the automation or none! So it is either A/P + A/THR or none! One thing to be aware of: The A320 A/THR assumes, that the pilot is following the F/D when flying with the A/P disengaged. So it can be better to turn off the F/D during manual flight with the A/THR in SPEED-Mode even if your company allows A/P OFF + A/THR ON.

Regarding the FSX Add On: I really like it.

I got the FSLabs Airbus too, even though I dislike the concept of the airplane itself -
I am interested in getting a better understanding of it. (I never thought I would
ever buy an FSX-plane again!)

Fps-wise it's pretty slow. ~100fps when on the runway, ~15-25 when moving
(I believe due to external flight model communication). Also it needs a certain way
to start it, or else i will not load. Fullscreen is not stable, it should run windowed.

I think it's well simulated, FMS-wise it seems very solid. FAC off enables them loopings :-)
