Somewhere in the transition to WIN10, updated GPU drivers and Gary's latest 7.5 update - VisualPSX lost the stutters that I was experiencing - it  is now an absolute joy to use with P3D 2.5 - thanks Garry!

I have installed P3D ver3 and it looks like a huge improvement on previous versions in terms of framerates and eye-candy.

I have also connected Visual PSX successfully. Happy days!

Thanks

Peter

Thanks for sharing Peter!

Just about to download P3D v3 and was very curious about compatibility with VisualPSX.
Happy to hear that it works.

Hello, Peter,

when I start Runway PSX, it does not detect simulator. How do you run Runway PSX for P3Dv3 ?

I was trying the scenario St Marteen to St Marteen with v3 and Visual PSX, and unfortunately, I got a CTD from P3D with an error related to terrain.dll

Stephane

I actually haven't run runway.exe in V3 yet...

Hi all,

I will include a version specifically for P3Dv3 in the next update.

Cheers,
Garry

Thanks Garry. Much appreciated. V3 is a significant improvement in fluidity/framerates.

Hello, Stephane.
It's easy! Just rename the P3D main folder as "Prepar3D v2". Then run the RunwayPsx...You will find you a P3Dv2 can be selected and then click "Start Processing".
Please don't forget name back the main folder as "Prepar3D V3" after processing.
Enjoy...!

Hi Stephane,

I have the same issue with RunwaysPSX not detecting P3Dv3 and so not able to generate a Runways_PSX_v71.vpx file. VisualPSX seems to hang after connecting to P3D for lack of that file. I've tried Jack's suggestion with no success. If anyone else has a workaround would love to hear, otherwise no great shakes I'll keep busy with testing a touchscreen monitor until Garry's next update.

Thank you to all the clever folks on this forum for these neat addons, they're really transforming an already great PSX into a superb piece of kit.

Hi all,

It may be a while before I have the next update ready (the offset problem being, well, problematic) so here are a couple of workaround suggestions:

1 If you have P3D v 2.5 you can try using the v71.vpx file from there. I guess the airports are unchanged in v3.

*** The second suggestion carries risks so be careful. It involves editing the registry. Document what you do so you can undo it later or P3D v3 may not work afterwards. ***

2a) Close P3D v3 and do not run it again until you have undone the following changes to your system.

2b) Create a Restore point so you can recover the system if you screw up.

2c) Use the file explorer to find the folder C:\ProgramData\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3. Rename the folder by changing v3 to v2.

2d) Run Regedit.

2e) If you are using a 32 bit pc search for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3.

2e) Or, if you are using a 64 bit pc search for the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v3.

2f) Rename the key by changing v3 to v2.

2g) Close Regedit.

3) Run RunwaysPSX. It should now recognise P3D as v2 and be able to generate the runways file.

4) Repeat all the parts of step 2 changing v2 back to v3 before you run P3D v3.

Good luck!
Garry

Garry, thanks so much, suggestion 2 worked a treat. P3Dv3 looks the business with PSX!

I use Visual PSX for some time. Great addon!
I upgraded now from P3D 2.5 to P3D v3. I reran runwaysPSX by changing temporary V3 to V2 as Garry indicated. (and restored afterwards)
After changing the IP address in Simconnect.cfg and Simconnect.xml, I also copied Simconnect.xml in the .../roaming/lockheed martin/Prepar3d v3 folder.
My VisualPSX folder contains VisualPSX.exe, VisualPsx.cfg, simconnect.cfg, runways_PSX_v71.vpx and lockheedMartin.Prepar3D.SimConnect.dll.
Since I changed all this, I cannot cannect VisualPsx to Aerowinx anymore. (PSX main Status OFFLINE, PSX Boost status OFFLINE, while both or on.).
The two programs run on the same PC.
Another app (Realtraffic) still connect well.
Any help would be very welcome.
Kind regards,
Jos

UPDATE: I gave it another try this morning and now everything works just fine.

Hi,

I am trying to run VisualPSX with P3D v3 too and I also encouter problems as my P3D is not installed in the default location. Hence the renaming and regedit hack does not work. It seems as RunwaysPsx relies on the default path of P3D but should not as the installation path is provided in the registry.

Anyway around this ?

Or else, someone could just send me a runways_PSX_v71.vpx and it will do the job ?

Thanks

Hi,

RunwaysPSX should work with non-standard installation locations for P3D, but it must be run on the same PC and under the same user account as P3D.

Cheers,
Garry

It's the case, i run it on the same computer, it is not recognizing P3D v3 with the registry change.

Let's investigate further. Could you tell me:

Which version of Windows are you using?

Which drive is the Windows system drive?

What is the path to P3D?

Thanks,
Garry

Hi Gary

I've spent four hours now reading all the posts on the topic and trying to understand why runways PSX crashes and disappears the moment I start it. Everything else (traffic etc) appears configured and connected OK as per your instructions and directory positions and I'm running a Steam Version of FSX on Win 10 (alienware)with the latest PSX update.

I have your latest download and read elsewhere that others have similar glitches but should I simply give-up or is there a checklist available to help me solve the problem, slowly driving me crazy.

Help much appreciated.

Sorry.. I'm in the wrong forum here. I'm using FSX and not 3D - apologies.. my first attempt to post. All the useful comments on the subject are in the archived forum and for some reason Aerowinx won't accept my login credentials there.
