Hello!

Can someone recommend a good quality, yet affordable Boeing USB Yoke? Can the FlyPfc 737 desktop solution be recommended?

Best regards,

Toto

Fantastic product and people at PFC. We point to them with our customers. Solid engineering...

Thanks Peter.

Could you ( or somebidy else ) state the range of travel of the PFC 737 desktop ( or column as alternative ) yoke? What would be your recommendation: the desktop or the column solution?

Is anyone familiar with this product: http://www.simw.com/hardware/boeing-yoke-737.html?

Or the ACE Yokes?

Best regards,

Toto

Hi Toto,

I have the PFC B737 Jetliner Column Yoke and it works perfectly with PSX. The only time I've noticed it gets close to the travel limit (elevator) is during steep turns (45 degrees bank/280 knots/5000'/295 tons).

The elevator travel limit is about 5 1/2" in either direction (11" total) as measured from the top of the column.

There is definitely enough yoke travel to maintain altitude and make minor corrections if you stay on top of it. But if you get a large enough descent trend going where you have to rapidly increase pitch to more than 6 degrees (it takes exactly 5 degrees of pitch to hold altitude and should't take more than 6 degrees to correct), it will sometimes reach the aft limit stop. But if it is done right, you shouldn't have a problem.

As far as aileron limits for crosswind landings, I found that about 36 knots is the limit before you don't have enough aileron to keep it tracking straight with full cross controls (ailerons and rudders) when you kick out the crab in the flare. There is plenty of aileron to handle the 20-knot crosswind approach into EBBR (03 Approach 022.situ).

Hope this helps.

Hi Jon,

to evaluate the maximum deflection of any external flight control you shouldn't look at the aerodynamics; you should just look at PSX's USB page and check if the respective axis moves smoothly and gradually from -1000 to +1000 units.

If it doesn't reach -1000 and +1000, the setting in the external USB driver is incorrect and you won't have full control in PSX.

Normally, every USB axis provides a range from -1000 to +1000. If you get this, your signal range is fine.

Just check the info tag (see page 258) or, when all hydraulics etc. are powered, the EICAS flight control surface indications. Check them like you do in real life.

Thanks, Hardy. I do get +/- 1000 on my PFC yoke. I just thought Toto was looking for something else when he asked about "range of travel." In any case, the PFC 737 yoke works very well with PSX.

PFC looks great but not quite the right colour or yoke layout. I have been pointed to simujabs who can do a Boeing brown colour, plus they are developing linked motorized yokes.

Hi Toto,

I don't know this Turkish product (it seems out of stock?..).

What I am using here are the dual linked flight controls from Northern Flight Sim.

Do you have any photos of your yokes in use?

SwissCharles

Hi GoDatum,

They are not yet built in, as I am in the process of completing my FDS Shell. As soon as I have the double frame underneath in place, I will be able to show some pics.
This does not mean, that I haven't played around with them though  ;)  and from what I see and touch and move, the system is sturdy and of very good quality.

I am sure that Art will send you some recent pictures of his setup once you contact him.
