The geometry of an aerobatic loop

Thanks for the great information, Hardy. And martin, thanks for informing me of the GLT! It reminds me also of the 2DT, or 2-dimensional tornado. They're everywhere, the problem is just that they're impossible to perceive.

just to avoid any confusion ...

The above discussion refers to 10.0.4 and previous versions.

I just noticed in 10.0.5 that the aircraft will smoothly roll by 180° when passing +90 or -90 pitch. This is an aerodynamic effect, not an instrument effect, and: I didn't program this intentionally. It's a side effect of these items:

0.5.0013.
0.5.0017.

In 10.0.6, later this year, I'll eliminate this unwanted effect -- but only for very steep pitch attitudes.

I just noticed that the above modification also affects 360° rolls. It's no longer possible to make a full roll with the aileron alone; it must be supported by the rudders to get a bank angle greater than 170°. The roll stability at extreme bank angles is simply too great. I will restrict this effect to a reasonable limit in the next update.

Thx for the follow-up HH.

I just hope those fixes don't introduce "noise" within the normal flight envelope, although I confess I would really like to have PSX as sound and complete in as far as flight dynamics go, as possible :-)
