Hi guys,

just thought I'd keep you in the loop how things are evolving here at my end. I've managed to get the el cheapo LG touchscreens working under OS X, so I've picked up the lowest end (aka cheapest) Mac Mini today, connected two of the LG screens to it and lo and behold, am getting 40fps steady, plenty happy for me.

Now here's a question for Hardy: Is it possible to get PS X to enter full screen mode on OS X? Otherwise there's always the main menu bar plus the PS X window title bar that sucks up a good few percent of vertical screen real estate (and it disrupts the vertical layout in my 6 screen cockpit!) It would be awesome of those could be reclaimed for the sim!

Cheers

Hi Balt, which LG touchscreens are you using?

I am looking at decking out a flat procedural trainer with touch flatscreens, but if it ends up to expensive I guess I may just go with thin bezel TV screens and control with the mouse.

Hi Balt,

Of course, it's definitely possible to run PSx fullscreened on Mac: simply uncheck the "show title bar, buttons..." on preferences / basics.
You can't get rid of the native OSX menubar... but you may get it darker (using the "dark mode" introduced with Yosemite), or even make it fully black when you don't hover the mouse cursor there, using the free "nocturne" utility.

Our local Costco has a great deal: LG 23ET83 AUD299 each.
For the drivers on OS X go to touch-base.com, spend another $100 or so on a home use driver of theirs (or maybe LG will provide drivers at some point).

Almost forgot about my Costco membership :) I think its up for renewal again soon...perhaps I can put it up to good use.

Hope to see pictures of your setup when you have the flat screens all running :)

Cheers.

Yeah I'll keep you all posted. I hope you can expect some first impressions by Saturday. Did you see my post in the accessories forum on the variety of 744 cockpit panels currently on ebay? I've had to exercise major constraint...

Hi Balt,

Which Mini did you get - the 1.4 GHz or the 2.6 GHz version?

Balt

cheapest ones, 1.4 GHz. Drives two monitors using HDMI and mini display port, PSX runs at about 48 fps.
