PFPX refusing to use ActiveSky etc. as source? -- a tip

Moi,

two days ago the initial free subscription expired to the PFPX server for weather, winds, tracks, NOTAMs, etc.

Now, a minor snag has developed: If you have not renewed the subscription, you may not even be able to make PFPX use ActiveSky (don't know about other programs) as your local weather source.

The data will be loaded and indeed be displayed in the PFPX "Weather" tab, but only for a fraction of a second; then they will be replaced by "No weather data available" again.
FlightSimSoft are aware of the issue and working on a fix.

In the meantime, I found a work-around on their German forum:
Simply have your firewall block PFPX from Internet access; then you can use the AS data again (they will remain displayed).

Disclaimer: It works for me, and I haven't seen any bad side effects so far, but haven't thoroughly tested either.
So be careful.

Cheers,
Martin
