Help requested please - VirtualPSX problems

Hi

Computer specs are as follows: Intel i7-3770K o/c to 4.5GHZ,16gig DDR3-1600 DDR3 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti  (3 GB),  2x Seagate Momentus 750gig HD's.

P3D installed with all Orbx scenery and airports. Runs smooth as silk with all sliders at maximum FPS 50-60fps. VAS usage never causes a OOM problem.

Recently installed PSX (remarkable achievement by Hardy). Have used Brian's latest tutorial together with Aerowinx Operations Manual and all seems ok.

Installed Garry's VirtualPSX ,RunwaysPSX and TrafficPSX using his instructional notes
for the installation of each program.

1. VirtualPSX works as ordered however I am getting extreme shaking and stuttering of P3D default(Posky 747) aircraft in external view together with extreme over speed and constant massive noise distortion with disappears approx every 4 secs then returns as described.

Example:
Sounds like a train approaching a tunnel, then quiet as train in tunnel, then extreme noise resumes as train exits tunnel. Speed of P3D 747 shakes extremely around 460-480 knots.

Should I use W key as used in FSX and P3D (2D Cycle Panels) as my outside view noise and shaking tends to reduce dramatically although slight stuttering remains. Scenery looking out via W key is what I expect of Orbx scenery inP3D.
FPS during this shaking etc in P3D remains as I normally expect and see in P3D.
I have searched forum but haven't been able to cure for above.

I also have noticed that CPU usage is at approx 40-50%. Unheard of previously.
P3D and PSX usage is approx 25-28% but increase significantly when VirtualPSX is in use.

2. My second problem I am experiencing in PSX is that I never see any scenery that is displayed in P3D being transferred by VirtualPSX to PSX. I thought that was one function of that software.

2. Final problem is this. Start FSX, PSX. Then using position function in Instructor page I shift my PSX aircraft to either threshold Runway 23 or 05 at YPAD. Start VirtualFSX (I have started at times after PSX attempting to track down my problem) and notice that the offset is set to YPED (approx 20 nm from YPAD and offset is displayed in VirtualPSX).

P3D 747 is shifted to a grass runway at YPED.
Is this a fault within VirtualPSX, PSX or have I missed the obvious.?

Any advice/assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Noel,

I can't answer your VirtualPSX questions, but I can answer this one:

Quote from: noels72. My second problem I am experiencing in PSX is that I never see any scenery that is displayed in P3D being transferred by VirtualPSX to PSX. I thought that was one function of that software.
No, it is not. The FSX scenery is shown in FSX, not in PSX.

Garry has kindly promised to look into the issues reported by some users when he returns from his holiday.

In the mean time, if you want to use an external VISUAL, I recommend you try X-plane for now.

Many thanks Hardy for your advice. Shows how dumb I am. I had watched Horst's
you tube video several times and still the penny did not drop with respect
to his 2nd monitor scenery and what I was seeing on his PSX monitor.

Also thanks Antti for your help. I think I'll stay with P3D and await Garry's
return from holidays to see if he can come up with a solution for VirtualPSX.

Hi Noel,

I'm experiencing the exact same problem using FSX and Visual PSX on my laptop. I didn't realise other users were also experience these problems and initially I thought it was down to my relatively low powered laptop.

Jermaine.

Garry has very kindly offered to look into this when he returns from vacation.

In the meantime I've started to use PSXEarth (http://aerowinx.com/forum/topic.php?id=1811) which has no impact on frame rates and is very smooth indeed. Load time is almost zero and time to get synced is also almost zero. For me it may be either a solution or a temporary fix while the issues with VisualPSX are resolved. The only downside is no weather depiction but you can't argue with the reality of the scenery! It also has options to show roads, Google Earth place labels and even 3D buildings.

On Will's situ (http://aerowinx.com/forum/topic.php?id=2048 ) as you fly out over Woodside VOR (OSI), as you look down and zoom in, there is the VOR sitting on top of a small hill. Amazing!
Greetings from the mountains of Northern Thailand (VTCC),

Can you rule out the aircraft model by using the F-22 and posting if the problems are identical or not.

Hi

Jermaine -  I have tried everything including updating realtek drivers but the problem remains. We will have to wait until Garry returns from holidays to get expert advice on this matter.

Chris - I prefer the scenery that I have installed and in that I mean no disrespect to
Will's endeavors to help us. I just prefer the full Orbx package of scenery enhancement
and frame rates are not a problem on my rig. If we could get rid of this conflict everything would be perfect.

Ray - I had tried the Embraer Phenom I had brought previously, same problem.
I took your advice of trying the default F22 but no difference. Have you the same problem that a few of us are experiencing?

I wonder if this problem was present in earlier versions of VirtualPSX and where can  I obtain copies.

Another question, unrelated to this topic.
Is it common amongst PSX users in general to have static IP address as each time after reboot of computer etc I have to change that address in Sim Connect.cfg  and Sim Connect.xml ?

Yes, static IP addresses are a necessity if you run server machines. Within your own network, there is no urgent reason to not assign a static IP address to your server boxes. Take care not to assign one out of the DHCP pool, though.

I have 2x 24" LED 1920x1080 @ 60 Hz being fed by a nVidia 670 / i7 965 ee / 12 gigs ram / raid 10 array which I built myself from all high end parts. Sometimes I drive the 55" TV too as a 3rd 1920x1080.

I have no swap file and I have sound disabled and all panels turned off and use either cockpit view or external fixed spot view. I also have everything under the sun turned on which gets me a frame rate of about 20-40 in the flight sim which is cpu affinity locked to stay out of PSX's way which stays @ 72.

I guess this might be one of those subjective things, with tri focals it might be jittering but i can't focus fast enough to see it, always seen years of people complaining about stutters but never had the problem here.
