FSX & P3D stutter in VisualFSX

Looked here for answers but could not find so here goes. Sorry if I'm asking something which has been addressed. If it has a quick pointer would be much appreciated.
Done the set up for VisualPSX, (thanks Garry), which is running on a separate networked dual core with on board video, as set out and it runs fine with everything synced perfectly. Running the FSX standard 744 in FSX & P3D. Showing 72fps in PSX and limited 40fps in FSX and P3D but the outside views stutter like the fps is in low single digits. FSX and P3D are on the same PC as PSX.
X view is stutter free but the candy is not as good.
My Pc is a 4790k clocking at 4.4 and GTX 780ti. JAVA is 7.67. W7 ultimate 64bit and 8gb RAM. 2 monitors with PSX on one and FSX / P3D on the other.
Is there anyone with a similar problem or anyone with any ideas? Maybe I need an Nvidia tweak but have no idea where to start.
Thanks.

Booster on?

I run P3D 2.3 and VisualPSX/PSX on the same computer without any stuttering.

Might be a network issue? My computer specs are inferior to yours, cheers :)

P.S. -- any issues getting the landing lights to turn on with XPlane/Xview? Driving me nuts trying to find a solution, or am I the only one with this isolated situation.

Chris Stanley

Thanks for the quick reply. Never noticed the lights issue but I'll look see. And yes, the Booster is on in PSX.

Hi I have the same issues with stutters.

Even when turning every rendersettings down in FSX to a point where I get 150+ FPS in FSX it still stutters. Everything else in my setup is silk smooth including PSX. All computers hooked up on gigabit network.

I have tried different setups with FSX and PSX on same PC, - different PC's , dropbox, AV, windows update turned off and so on. - still no difference.

Only thing missing is a complete reinstall on my FSX PC with a fresh Win7 image. Now I only need some time as it takes half a day to acomplish with all updates ect

As a sidenote X-plane via Xview is buttersmooth on the same HW.

I'll report back when I succeed

Cheers
Best regards

Thanks Curt.
My FSX is jammed full of candy but I don't think that is the problem because its running at 40fps. Also, P3D is installed clean with NO added candy and that stutters too. Before you do anything as drastic as you are thinking, suggest you wait for advice from the folks here!
BTW I tried running with no FSUIPC and then with it but Wideserver off. No difference; same stutter.
FSX and Windows is a nightmare not to be contemplated!

Hi John. Just looked up what that means!
X view is really smooth and runs from an external 2TB drive. FSX and P3D run on drive c: which is an 18 month old Western Digital 500gb standard drive. With both hitting 40fps while running with PSX not sure drive access speed is the issue.
If there is no simple solution, XView is fine.
Thanks for the suggestion.

Hi Chris,
My setup is also behaving exactly the same as you describe.  Additionally just after rotation at ELLX, the FSX screen is jumping back to a ground view for a split second and then afterwards it remains correct and follows the aircraft.  PC Setup is very recent, o/c to 4,4ghz  This gives me sometimes more than 180 f/s  and in ELLX for example around 50-60.  But still these stutters.
FSX is running on its own WD Black disk together.  PSX as server (boost on) on a SSD together wit win7 64 bit.

Hi Michael. I'm not sure how it all 'networks' and if I did,  I would probably not understand.
Maybe Garry will see this and offer a suggestion?

Tottenham 0 Liverpool 3 and I just missed the 2 second half goals doing this.
I just moved the VisualPsx folder to the same Pc running PSX & FSX, re ran Runways PSX and did the set up. Did not have to change ANYTHING else in the moved folder.
Departing EGNX 27 with FSX running Orbx Global &  Vector and UK2000 EGNX. Rotated abeam the parked DHL fleet and out over the Power Station before hitting the scud and heads down.
Suggest to all stuttures that you remove the need to network. That worked for me with NO degradation of framerates. Smooth as a babies bottom.

Make sure VisualPSX is not trying to find the runway offsets; I've had some strange things happen with some of my addons, like the translation movement of the aircraft to a different runway.

I remember now I do get a few stutters now and then, but it is unnoticable and brief.

That could indicate that your network hardware is aggregating data packets. To obtain smoothness in high speed transfers, both PSX and VisualPSX disable the Nagle algorithm. Your network router may have such a setting.

Thanks to both. I'll look at the router in the morning.

Here's a link to disabling Nagle's algorithm in Windows:

http://b.rideekulo.us/2009/09/windows-7-nagles-algorithm-and-gaming/

I haven't tried it, and since it requires modifying the registry, caution is in order (as well as backing up the registry!  I wouldn't think disabling it for the whole PC would be helpful or appropriate unless non-PSX activities such as PC-based gaming might benefit.
Best wishes,

Phil Bunch

I would not disable Nagle for everything. It is there for good reasons. Individual applications should control it just for themselves as PSX and VisualPSX do.

There seems to be a network problem for some users and checking router settings may find the answer. But please don't disable the Nagle algorithm through the Windows registry.

Just checking ... is the network wired Ethernet, or wireless WiFi?

Hi Jeroen.

It makes no difference for me whether using PSX and FSX on the same PC (negating NW issues) or on different ones. Still lots of stutter. Wired or wireless the same also...

Make sure you have all power management features disabled.
