Alternative out-of-winshield view ?

Well, back in the old PS1 days there was an app that allowed us to see the taxiways and gates in the FMC display, if I'm not wrong  ( ? ).

Now, the visuals in PSX are a lot better than they were in PS1, and for me, with years of useless use of FSX and X-Plane, it would be a pain to have to install either for visuals.... I'd rather have some sort of scenery display program, a very basic one but good for Earth and weather rendering, with good daylight transitions as well as date-based rendering of the day/night/dusk/dawn...

For flying, takeoff and landing, PSX visuals are just fine!

Meanwhile, my only problem is that if my flight does not start or end in the rw in PSX, and I want to taxi to / from a gate, then it's going to be difficult...

Any suggestions of a satellite application I could use ( I believe there is already something for Google Earth? )?

And the announcement of PSX_Earth public release is here.

Ok, I was aware of PSX_Earth, but didn't yet give it a try, but I certainly will!

Today I spent some time testins Xview and VisualPSX.

While I do prefer, by far, VisualPSX, I decided I will stay with PSX only, and maybe use PSX_Earth!

A possible alternative might be Flight Gear - which also has sloped runways, and a visual quality in rendering them far better than what X-Plane 10 offers. Then it doesn't suffer that much from the horizon blur of X-Plane 10...

Maybe someone comes up with yet another PSX_FG :-)

After having finally found what was causing such poor performance in Xview - not setting the FPS in PSX to 70 - I am finally fine with it and using the combination PSX - XP10 with some joy :-)
