Dont Like the Product - i want my $400 back

I'm going to jump in and add my $.05.   I'm 65 (ugh!!!) a long time PS1 user and even longer term MSFS flyer.  I've been away from simming for a few years, don't know why I left after thousands and thousand of flying hours. But I followed the Aerowinx forum and site weekly and really looked forward to this unbelievable piece of software.

I'll admit to being very frustrated at first .... there is so much in this software, that it is overwhelming ... but as many good guys have pointed  out, the doc is really well done and the answers are there.  I'm proof ... even after being depressed and ready to delete the software, I kept on trying and I've finally set up the 9 screens "MY WAY" at least so that I can readily do what I want easily ... zooming when needed and restoring quickly.  I finally learned the keyboard since I no longer have joysticks, etc.  I have installed PSX on a 27 inch HP All In One ... the I7 processor really is helpful here.  I also installed on an MacBook Air 11" hmmmm I did it, fixed the 9 screens and zoom when needed, I bought a cheep  numeric keypad because other than the little menu I couldn't figure out how to move between screens.  I spent some time googling how to use HOME, and a few other keys, but with a little effort and research, I finally got off the ground last night from LAX 25L.

This is an ingenious product.  Really incredible, there are really very few English adjectives which do justice to it.  Thanks and major congratulations Hardy for all of your incredible work.  Really awesome, well done, a labor of love!!!!! Well worth the wait.

Do I have to do my part and be willing to RTFM, google where I have questions or confusing situations, find ZFWs and weights, routes, etc, sure ... but that's the price you pay, and the additional fun you have.  I've been having fun emailing with Mike Ray reviewing the capabilities of the sim with him and using his great book .....

Bottom line here, like everything in life that worth doing, there is an amount of effort to be put in.  I urge you to reconsider and give it a try.  I am relearning the details of the 744 and having to learn the software at the same time ... challenging, you bet.

I'm hoping to figure out everything over the coming months ... where I'm really stuck, I know I can come to this forum and really GOOD folks here will try their best to help me.  

I do see the need for a detailed step by step "getting started" tutorial ... which I may actually try once I feel competent.   Something which encompasses installation and customization, and then a cold and dark start, all the flight planning, setup, ATC, ACARs, etc.  I know if a real pilot does something in a real 744, I can do it in PSX ... It just take time and thought.

My philosophy at age 59 is to go for it, whatever. I am finding the simulator challenging but very enjoyable. At the moment I am keeping it simple. Flying around is fun but the first officer keeps saying watch yr rudder!!!! I had to get my manuals out to find out where the rudder trim was! Then I realised it was on one of the panels!.

An hour a day reading the manual, a long way to go till I know much. I second how helpful and knowledgeable forum members are.

Hello Mundyas,

If you're hearing "check your rudder," first look to make sure that your rudder trim is centered. If it is, then look at the flight controls indicator in the upper left of your screen. If you see any deflection (white), try to center it with your controls. If the white deflection indication won't stay away, you need to change your Neutral setting on Preferences > USB, from zero to perhaps 5 or 10. Once you can verify with the controls indication that you're flying with centered controls, you won't hear that admonition again. Best of luck!

I just turned sixty today and can't wait till I have the money to buy PSX as I had PS1 from the mid-90's.
A older simmer can upgrade with the times, I wish I had a 42 in screen instead of my laptop screen.

I also bought a new 42" Sony TV for external view.

Just for curiosity I tried to run PSX on that machine....  uahhhh...

68 - 69 Frames in full mode, showing the complete MIP (CPT and FO side, both Eicas) the outside view and the first row of the overhead panel with full WX, and APTS shown on both NDs.  :mrgreen:

NOW ZOOM IN! On my 65" the PFD & ND are a full 8" x 8" and most everything is full size.  Requires a bit of thought, but I'm distilling my panels daily.  I am totally convinced that 744 Nirvana is within reach!

Yesterday, in my hotel room on my MBP I took G-CIVA from LHR to Cardiff for a C check- and pinched myself all the while.  One day FULL SIZE the next on a MBP 15 but BOTH TOTALLY BRILLIANT!

Hello jdanielnd, you have a good point there. Someone on another forum recently posted a comment like "don't bother with PSX, it's not for hobby simmers, it's too realistic and too complicated." (That's a paraphrase.)

That person was trying to discourage people from buying PSX, but in fact, I think it ended up attracting just the right type of person!

Welcome to the forum! If you're looking for accuracy and realism, this is the place!  I spent several days asking questions here before finally ordering it a few weeks ago.

The only way I can summarize it is this: it's the best $400 I'll ever spend. I spent far more, cumulatively, on FS add-ons over the years, but none of them ever got close to what PSX has achieved. If you haven't placed your order yet, do so!  :twisted:

Need a better 'visual' simulator -- using P3D just doesn't cut it (a quality procedural trainer like PSX needs a quality world simulator). I would go back to using the built in visual system but I would like to use vatsim.  

Perhaps we can get a good match up when Outerra has support in 10 years or so.

Why not X-Plane while Outerra is still so far away?  Good visuals, excellent free scenery, nice weather rendering too... Smooth as silk even on my single PC setup, based on an "old" i5 2500.

I do not agree, I'm afraid. For me Prepar3D 2.4 works flawlessly.
50 fps at busy airports and 120 fps+ in the air. Smooth as silk.
Note that I run Prepar3D at a separate powerful PC and two instances of PSX at a less powerful second PC.

I will give xplane another go. I could never get xsquawkbox 64 bit to work correctly (no night lighting) and it takes forever to load the aircraft models (I used an automated model download program).
