Derek,
Condoleances from here too.
Hessel

p.s.

Did read about your "problems" with updating the CDU and the good old Hagstrom.

Consider a VERY simple solution by using an OpenCockpits Keycard ( http://www.opencockpits.com/index.php/en/iocards/available-cards/keyboards ), which is NOT used as a classical keyboard card but is direct driven by the PSX router software.

**Not only 1 sentence of programming is needed**
since PSXEECON ( http://www.lekseecon.nl/psxseecon.html )does the job for you.

That's true if you have your keys connected to the 11x8 matrix of the keycard just as in the already asembled FMC units of Opencockpis. Here is the SIOC script.

Note that the keycard generates an integer for each key (-not a keystroke!-). That number is read by SIOC and handed over -without changes- to psxseecon. Psxeecon converts the number to the numbers PSX expects for the keys.

If you have your keys wired differently, that's no problem, but then you have to adapt in SIOC with a number of IF statements to the values that PSX expects (so not just 1 line of code).

Gentlemen,

Thank you for your messages of condolence.

When the 747-400 simulator was first bought by ANZ my Brother spent some time with the manufacturer in Crawly UK and performed the acceptance trials. The simulator was deconstructed and then reassembled in Auckland where he did all the proving of the "aeroplane'.

I mention this because of my wish for him to see PSX.

He demanded high standards from his students, and it was said that many removed the axe from the sim prior to a session.

I do not think he would have found fault with PSX.

Hessel :- my CDU keypad has a 52 pin connector to the Haegstrom unit so I do not think your suggestion of the Open Cockpits keycard will work for me.

In any case, when will I have time for construction after PSX arrives. Matt has indicated that his supply is in customs in Sydney so won't be long before my copy arrives. :P

Cheers All
Derek
