Looking for 1.2 patches and used 1.3 to buy

Hi Shiv,

in fact I took the "long and hard" way through all PS versions, patches, upgrades and updates, from the beginning  :)

I had to search my backups to find them all again:

1.0 (4 floppies plus spiral bound manual without version!)
1.0a, 1.1, 1.1a, 1.2, 1.2a, 1.2b, 1.2c (all upgrade packs, but no manuals, all downloaded).
1.3 (Update Pack CD plus v1.3 spiral bound manual).

I did not remember, that PS1.2 was delivered on CD with manual. But I guess the 1.2 manual does not differ too much from the first PS1.0 manual.
The PS1.2 README file has a note, that a 1.2 manual might be distributed for a minimum charge.

Cheers, Holger

All versions from 1.0a to 1.2c (with and without a suffix letter) were free downloads. Additional handbook pages were included in electronic form. So it's no wonder that some users do have all versions but not as many handbooks in paper form.

The first and only non-free update was 1.3 in April 2000. That was not free because I worked 2 years at it. Besides, only new customers had to pay the full price (there was a full pack and an update pack). Anyway, that was the first time users had to buy a new version and herewith got a complete new paper manual.

I am looking for a spiral bound manual, I dont care about
the version, I just want to get the basics. I am a student,
so my money is a little limited.  If anyone of you guys has
two manuals and want to get rid of one, you can drop me a mail :-)

Thanks!

Hello,

I have exactly the same set...

To Holger or Richard,

Is there any way I could get the downloaded "upgrade" packs from either of you?

Perhaps zipped in an email to me?

I am a bit of a collector and completist and I would like to have all of the upgrades that were available if possible.

I currently have the 1.2 CD and by next week should have the 1.0 floppies and 1.3 upgrade CD so all I am asking is for the followinig upgrade packs...

1.0a, 1.1, 1.1a, 1.2a, 1.2b, 1.2c  (I don't need 1.2 or 1.3).

I only want the "patches", not anything that would be a "full version" since I have the full original versions.

As long as it's OK with Hardy and Jeroen...which I wouldn't see why not.

Thank you,

Jim

OK with me of course -- but it may prove rather hard to get especially the lower numbers... success with this attempt to write a simulator's history!

Another nice one to spend some time at:

I do not know whether PS1.2 CD requires any previous PS1.x versions. But to install PS1.3 update pack you either need a PS1.0 or PS1.2 installation, tha's all, no other intermediate versions are required.

Hardys PS1.3 update pack CD updates PS1.0 or PS1.2 directly to PS1.3  :)

The only update you may need is Jeroens 747IPC Auto-Installer to get the PS1.3aEE4  :)

Regards and good luck, Holger

Hello Holger,

Thanks for the reply.

The desire for the updates is actually due to me being a bit eccentric.  I have been on a vintage PC game collecting binge lately and that's how I came across the 1.2 version of PS1.  I bought it on eBay.

I have been going back to the "days of old" so to speak and just seeing how these old games played.  PS1 falls into a little different category because it doesn't seem dated to me at all.  I could see it coming out this year and looking and functioning just the same...which is impressive, to say the least.

I just aquired a 1.0 copy and the 1.3 update (cost me a lot because of the US dollar is doing so poorly with any exchange rate, but I'm happy to have gotten them).  The reason I want the updates is to simply mess around with the original versions and have the updates...well...just to have them I guess.  I know 1.3 will be the version I actually use to do my armchair 747 simming with, but because I was able to get (collect) original copies of all three versions, I want EVERYTHING that was available to go with them.

I even want the original tutorials for 1.2 (I have the 1.3 ones) and even if there was a tutorial that was 1.0 specific.

So for me, it's more for the collecting aspect of why I want these updates.

I actually have an old machine dedicated to old Windows and DOS gaming.  It has Windows 98 on it, a Voodoo5 5500 graphics card and a Soundblaster card with a gameport.  I was so excited that I got PS1 1.2 that I was able to get lightly used CH Virtual Pilot Pro and CH Pedals, both gameport versions off of eBay.

It's been quite the guilty pleasure but I don't drink or smoke, so I have fun collecting things, old PC games being my latest craze.

Sorry for the novel, but that's why I want the updates.  I am going to burn them onto a CD (if I can be lucky enough to get them) and save them.

Jeroen,

I love this site.  It's been a terrific resource in getting some of the old flight (mainly combat) sims I never knew about.  I have aquired quite a few of those recently as well.  He has some really good info on the older sims that you can't easily find anywhre else.

@Jeroen
I dont know how not to hide my email. It should
be visible to everyone?!
Anyway, if anyone wants to sell his handbook,
you can mail me at langeyyy@xxx.com, where
yyy stands for "737" (hehe) and xxx for "yahoo" ;-)

Thanks guys!

Hello Hardy,

Is it o.k. to disclose these patches (zip files) from my backup to Jim: 1.2a, 1.2b, 1.2c?
I know they were freely downloadable, but I am not the owner, so I just ask you for permission.

Jim,
I did not find the older versions 1.0a, 1.1, 1.1a in my backups, they were only on my record. I really may have deleted the very old stuff... I'll have to look into the old backup images...

Hopefully, you will be able to send me a message now...and thank you very much for the patches.

Hi Jim,

the 3 PS1.2A, B and C patches are on the way to you  :)
I thought I had published my email already because I saw the "Send message" link in my profile, allthough my email was not published
Thanks to your hint I activated the publish email check-box in my profile now.

The forum "send message" feature offers a checkbox "Send a copy to my own e-mail address". This way I got your real email address, so no need to reply to my initial mail.

Happy flying,
Holger
