Hi All

Hardy    With the availability of the new flight planner PSPX, can you tell me if the output from this program will be accepted and compatible with PS13 until such time as PSX becomes available.

Thanks

Derek

Hi Derek,

PFPX route files cannot be loaded into PS13's FMC, only into PSX's FMC.

However, you can use PFPX for the paper work, of course.

Servus Hardy,

in addition to this question: I'm using FSBuild for flightplanning and import to the FMC in PS13 (.via & .rou) since I bought my PS13 package and I'm still VERY happy with this tool and his up-to-date-function via navigraph updates in point of SID's & STAR's.

Will this also be possible with PSX, please ?

Servus Andre,

I'm sorry, the old via/rou system of PS1 is not compatible with PSX. PSX requires a lot more data; the old system doesn't have that data.

There might be a conversion tool some day? I don't know. PSX route files can be read in a text editor anyway. Unlike in PS1, it's not hidden in binary format.

Hi Andre,

A somewhat time consuming work around will probably be to take your FSBuild route and manually enter it in the PSX FMS in the usual way, then save it in PSX for future use.  If there are minor discrepancies in the nav databases, this also allows an easy way to make route modifications in the FMS as you go.  I used to do that a lot with PS1 and FSBuild plans anyway.

Torrence

Hello Gentleman,

first of all thank you very much for your answers. The really strong point of FSBuild together with PS1 is ( was ), that FSBuild convert also newest waypoints ( and with this also actual SID & STAR creations worldwide ) into the PS1-fms (by coordinates ?).

@Hardy: What do you recommend as planning tool for PSX with a possible transfer of the builded route data into the company route section ?

Andre

Hardy Heinlin

At the moment I cannot make any recommendations because I don't have any of those FSX flight planners.

A great advantage of PFPX is that old stored routes can be automatically checked/repaired if they are out of date.

I think PFPX is as professional as the upcoming PSX.
Both will be the top software in the sim world.

Just wait until people have both PFPX and PSX and they will find eachother.

For me this sounds like a recommendation of PSPX against FSBuild. Is this software airac-driven like FSBuild or how is it updated ? I've checked their hp but couldnt find any hint...

PFPX navdata is available from Aerosoft and Navigraph, as usual, and for which a charge is made.

From what I saw so far, to me it looks more like "FSBuild is to PFPX as PMDG is to PSX"...

...after reviewing the preview videos at their homepage I agree with Martin and his last comment. Very promising.

I expect PFPX will be THE standard for flight planning. It looks amazing.

PSPX isn't listing PSX as a supported aircraft type... will that need to be modified later, after the release of PSX perhaps? Hardy seemed to hint that the PSX FMC could read PSPX files, but i don't know if that's an existing capability or something planned for the future.

For PFPX-to-PSX there's no file converter required. Just copy the route in standard PFPX file format to PSX's "Routes" folder.
