Hi Guys,

I am using Hoppies MCDU for the ACARS, however when I get an uplink I dont get an audio alert.

I am using this on a seperate PC from MSFS... How do you turn this alert on?

Thanks

The MCDU triggers a standard Windows "ping" which I think is called "Default Beep" in XP when a message appears in the scratch pad. You can assign whatever sound you want to this by means of the Windows Control Panel.

If you link up the ACARS application to PS1, your PS1 CDU should show "ACARS MESSAGE" including an EICAS line, for which PS1 will also generate the EICAS chime.

Hi Jeroen,

For some reason my setup is not generating any noise atall when it gets an uplink.

All other functions are working... Which of the programs controls this noise (broker, MCDU, acars air etc

Thanks again!

For others reading this: how did you fix it?

Somehow that default windows sound was turned off. So after it turned that back on in control panel sounds.... I then replaced that sound file with a wav file I have of the call alert. (same sound for cockpit inter phone, selcal and acars) so now it works and makes the correct sound.

Would it be possible to update the ACARS software to include an oceanic clrnce page..This would follow the real life application more closely.

Just box prompts to fill in the required fields for sending to the oceanic controller.

It appears at present VATSIM are on a real drive to increase the use of your CPDLC particularly in the oceanic regions.

Further... In the ATC position reports the Mach number is being reported at M085 no matter what the true value is. The groundspeed shown in the company reports is correct, just not the CPDLC Mach number

As soon as I have that ARINC 619 implementation done, I will retrofit it back into the hobby ACARS and fix the bugs!

Is there any way to use the PSX cdu for the hoppies network?

Jeroen Hoppenbrouwers

Unfortunately not at this time. There is a replacement in BACARS I believe. Still need to find the time...

Hi Jeroen,

Worldflight 2016 is a good opportunity for me to get back to speed with the ACARS network. On the long oceanic legs, I had good benefit from CPDLC across the Pacific. Thanks again.

However, this was with your "classic" MCDU back from PS1 days.

I also used WF2016 to look into BACARS and indeed, it connects to the ACARS network fine, but as far as I can tell so far, only for ADS-C and freetext messages, that is, the ACARS part. The ATC part (incl. CPDLC) is apparently not covered by BACARS yet.

Now, here comes the wish list.  :D It would be great to have the CPDLC and ATC in the PSX cockpit.

Is that an easy task (just rewriting the MCDU interface to handle PSX) or a major task?

I plan to add cdplc to bacars in the next couple of months.
