The heavy and complex demands that flightsim software puts on the hardware makes it difficult to say exactly what constitutes an adequate system. On the sleeve for the PSX disk Hardy states that the requirement is "dual-core or multi-core CPU running at 2.5GHz or higher"

To help others understand what is needed for an XPlane-XView-PSX set-up I give my own experience with two configurations.

1. Core 2 Duo at 2.66GKz with 4Gb memory plus nVidia GTX 8800 graphics.
2. i7-3930 at 3.2GHz with 16Gb memory plus nVidia GTX 680 with 4Gb memory

Both configurations drive the same 1920x1200 monitor.

System 1, which just meets Hardy's requirements, runs PSX fine and X-Plane reasonably with reduced graphics settings. It definately does not run PSX and X-Plane together, but works well with PSX on System 1 and X-Plane on System 2. You want it this way round as X-Plane is the most resource hungry.

System 2 runs both programs simultaneously without problems with high redering settings and high fps. The higher number of cores helps here as XView runs using four independent threads and of course X-Plane and PSX are independent.

It would be interesting to hear how other configurations perform.
