Hi Hardy, Just something I noticed about the single cue flight director. I came across this image of the cockpit of a Delta 747 with the software option enabled. It looks quite different to the one in the image you posted the other day (The FD is thinner and translucent and the black "arrow" underneath is quite different). Just though I would bring it to your attention. PSX looks amazing and this is in no way a criticism. I can't wait to have it running on my sim! Cheers, Joe

Hi Joe, thanks for the tip! That's great. Until now I've been uncertain how the magenta V-bar should be drawn -- outlined or filled. Your pic looks like it's semi-transparent. This is interesting. Or is it a photo effect and the outlines are just blurred, so just looking as if the filling was semi-transparent? When zooming in, it really looks semi-transparent. But ... this is the old CRT type built in the 1980s, could they have semi-transparency in their graphics engine? Regarding the geometry: The V-bar has a CRT version and an LCD version. PSX models both. Here are some pics from an older forum thread: The lower right one is the LCD version. The question was: Filled or outlined? I guess I'll just have to make it outlined plus a semi-transparent filling :-) Cheers, |-|ardy P.S.: Or ... the "semi-transparency" is actually solid dark magenta and is layered behind the white pitch lines, but above the filled brown/blue background.

The CRT engine does not have semi-transparency as such, but is capable of painting lines on top of lines on top of lines which may induce certain effects not possible with raster equipment.

OK, just modified -- the V-bar is now semi-transparent. On this occassion I also tested if I can reproduce the real-world scenario in the above Guam05.jpg photo: (Click on pic to enlarge)There are only tiny little differences. With a slight touch on the baro or OAT on the weather menu I could bring Mach .844 to .842. And with a heading change of ca. 0.3° the GS could be increased from 484 to 485 knots. Pitch can be considered equal. On the photo the speed is slightly below the speed bug, hence the aircraft is probably accelerating a little bit. I like these real-world inflight photos, it's always a good test of PSX's atmosphere model and aerodynamics! :-) |-|ardy P.S.: The LEGS page is showing 169° because this Alpha version is referring to true North. « Last edit by Hardy Heinlin on Mon, 16 Jul 2012 12:43:03 +0000. »

Hi Hardy,
I was chatting to a Delta guy about the FD and he seemed to think you could see the horizon through the FD. Hope this helps.
Mod looks great. It all looks so brilliant.
Cheers,
-Joe
