Thanks for the story. When I was training in Arizona (CAVOK all the time) it was a ritual to take a trip to California to get some actual IMC. It was a real treat. I'm glad you got to fly a Cirrus, I wish I could do that.

Reading these post really brought back memories. Arhhh.... I don't fly anymore. Some of the highlights are:
... got my PPL in Jan28 1991. Turn 21 a few months after in March. ... did my instrument checkride with somebody awesome ... the ex-Chaplain of the Thunderbirds F16 guys, Yeah he was a flight examiner ( a Godly one, Amen) in Jackson TN, in real actual weather, I actually saw the highway as runway as my NDB was flipping a tossing, did a normal go-around when I realized it, I passed. ... Memories... ... went further to CPL ...CFII. Just reliving ...sigh.. Ray |

Really enjoyable to read about your Cirrus and California adventures.
I'm sure your stay in India will be quite an adventure, too, probably qualifying as being in a different dimension! Of course, many would say the same about California as well as Kansas! _______________ Best wishes, Phil Bunch |

Just uploaded the video my daughter took, whilst sitting behind me in the Cirrus.
You see us landing at Catalina, RW22. It's a pretty narrow strip and this was my first landing in the Cirrus and actually my first landing after a few months of no flying. A bit of the centreline. The runway, apparently, had been resurfaced recently. But it was still very patchy and bumpy. Taking off my CFI told me to do soft field take off and pop a wheelie, get airborne, stay in the ground effect to avoid to much shaking about. This Catalina strip is interesting, about 1700 ft MSL and on both sides of the runway there is a very steep drop. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRjUASwNz0g |
