Once again the sim wizards at SimfestUK are flying out this weekend (7,8,9 Aug).
Cape Town to Cairo, and eventually on to London. 17 sectors in total.

Gary's 747 sim will be broadcast live during this time and we would love you to fly along or just sit back and watch on Twitch.

All your "favourite" Simfest pilots will be there at various times, and I have compiled a guide to the routes for the flights over Africa.

All details, blog and juicy tit-bits at www.simfest.co.uk
Look for "Out of Africa".

The Route guidance manual is downloadable from the site..

We hope to "see" you there!

I just wanted to add thanks to Britjet for his Route Information Manual which gives a brilliant insight into real world operations in Africa. (Now to persuade him to do one for world flight :D )

Cheers
Gary

Ps: I'm sad to say that Craig won't be joining us this weekend :'(

Great! :-)

I'll be watching you on Twitch every now and then when I have the time ...

How will you set up your random malfunctions sliders this time? :-)

We have a built-in random malfunction slider due to collective incompetence!
However I am sure that we will invent some issues..

Hi all,

If you fancy connecting to our PSX instance (read only) try this:

IP:
52.18.140.71
Port:

This is the first time we've done this so there are no guarantees of reliability!

Captain, can you display the left and right VOR needles on your ND ... and maybe the terrain as well? Your ND looks so naked :-)

Set. Thank you! :-)

By the way, are you sure BA aircraft have no terrain peaks mode? (See Instructor > Model > Programming, under EGPWS.)

Thanks, Sylle!

Watching on Twitch ...

Peter, you're right, in PSX's CPDLC model one cannot arm multiple reports at the same time. But, just to avoid a misunderstanding: You can arm one report in each "report category" at the same time. I.e. the arming feature is not completely unavailable.

A tip for on the onboard engineer who's currently in the galley: You can erase that red EGT box on Instructor > Situation > Service with the button "Erase latched messages". The pod strike on the last landing caused a momentary EGT peak :-)

Hmpf. You're right. Must be a bug.

The erase button works when clicked on a client's Instructor, but not when clicked on a server's Instructor.

You can blank and redisplay the red box also on the flight deck with the CANCEL and RECALL buttons, but CANCEL will not erase it, it will keep it in memory for the recall.

Hi Hardy

I will look again at the arming feature - I couldn't find one - the sort of thing I had in mind is "leaving a FL" and/or "reaching a FL" etc.

I didn't know that PSX could do that - in which case - great!

Hi Peter,

there are some more details in the PSX manual on pages 409 to 412.

Perhaps you didn't see any report functions because ATC didn't request a report? The REPORT> promt at 6R appears only if the request is a "report" request. The type of request determines what types of replies are available (reject, standby, accept, report).

Hardy,

I can connect to the SimfestUK sim with their IP, and am trying to get the P3D visual onto my screen by switching on the boost server on my CLIENT and connecting to it internally with VisualPSX.

The load goes OK and I get a good P3D cockpit view but then the image keeps reloading constantly, as though it is going through some sort of continuos cycle.

Should it be possible to connect a client in this way to an external IP and also run a scenery generator off the same client boost server?
