The input comes from an ADS-B receiver on top of a building in Haarlem. It does not have the same range or capability as a real radar, and it obviously does not track anything without an ADS-B transponder. But the result works surprisingly well.

I recently bought Airnav RadarBox.

Nice bit of kit. (not affiliated with Airnav in anyway).

Thank you Matt,
but germany is exactly on the opposite site of the earth ;)
No seriously, german ATC has something similar:
http://www.dfs.de/dfs/internet_2008/module/fliegen_und_umwelt/deutsch/fliegen_und_umwelt/flugverlaeufe/index.html
called STANLY-TRACK, but the aircraft vectors are 30 min old due to
security reasons.
It was nice to have a real german LIFE tracker....

Thanks and Regards,

Timo

PS:Hardy, it would really be good to be able to edit a post longer than 30 min...

Hmmm, maybe no limit...
...or until there is a reply, because then it makes
no more sense to edit it....
...or at least one day....

The default value was 30 seconds.

Now it's 86400.

I remember having read about two hardware devices available in Germany for private use a while back. If you google for something like "ADS-B Empfänger" you will certainly find related offers.

Some of the equipments "share" the received data via the internet such that you can monitor air traffic almost world wide.
However I heard rumors, that due to legal issues a German administration court got engaged... :(

Yes, the Dutch one posted above uses an ADS-B receiver.

How much stupidity until the politicians discover that technology can always be used for bad things no matter what?

Hi all,

This my fav! : http://www.atcbox.com/modules.php?name=html-radar-en
For only € 10,00, you get a lifetime subscription, you traffic from the northern
part of the Netherlands, Traffic around EHAM (Schiphol), Southern part of the
Netherlands, France, Portugal and the UK and Ireland.
Very nice is the EHAM screen, with the ATC live-streams and the screen you
can closely follow how traffic is vectored to the airport! 8)
