John, the CDU blanking problem was a version mismatch. I was running 10.0.1-beta with the additional CDU blank signal, you know.

Great - that makes sense!

Phew... :)

Not a shared flight per se, but I am online on VATSIM at the moment, 18 Aug 0235z doing my first long-distance test of Visual and Traffic PSX as DAL9960, enroute KATL-KLAX, with ETA at LAX at 0504Z.

Everything is working great so far. Had good ATC coverage at ATL, with GND, TWR, DEP and CTR, but it's pretty dead right now, as I approach the Oklahoma border. The FSX visuals on taxi and takeoff tracked perfectly - we'll see how the arrival runway offset works when I get to LAX.

Did have some crossing online traffic that showed up perfectly on the PSX ND. I'm also tracking my flight on my iPad in Foreflight's map screen, using the FSXFlight app.

For flights over the US, Foreflight overlays realtime Nexrad radar on the moving map screen, which showed a large thunderstorm cell near Littlerock, AR, which appeared on schedule on the PSX radar in just about the right location. Not bad considering it's position was determined solely by surrounding airport METARS.

Don't want to try making this particular flight avialable for shared cockpit, as I have enough TCP/IP client-server interconnections going on right now to choke a horse.

Just about 2.5 hours to go, in case anyone wants to take a look at my progress on Vat-Spy or Servinfo.

Is anyone online outside of Europe to test ...

PSX 10.0.1-alpha8

... via Internet with me? The greater the distance the better.

Test procedure:

Client should click (or tap) on MCP HDG bug selector in 1 second intervals.
Every click should move the bug by 1 degree.

This should test whether the Internet will keep the delay between mouse-button-pressed and mouse-button-released above a reasonable minimum. PSX sets 80 ms. The Internet may delay the pressed-status more than it delays the released-status, so that the two events may get closer to each other. If the gap is smaller than 10 ms, -- which might happen at random over the Internet --, the respective click will not move the HDG bug.

Anyone interested in a test now?

I can help out if you are still online but I've never used the Internet connect option so you might need to point me in the right direction for initial setup.

Scott,

be sure you have alpha8.

On Preferences > Basics: Client connects to host:

enter xxxxxxxxx

On Port: 10747

On Network > Main select

* A main client

Click on Start button.

That's all.

When you are connected, please type SCOTT in the scratchpad on CDU L.

Then please start the test.

Thank you :-)

I believe you need to have port forwarding enable on your router and then start PSX up in 'Main Server' mode under the 'Network' section.

Someone counteracted my flight controls :-)

Was that intentional or a bad USB neutral zone?
